After the rebase, will it be possible to merge mine AEON with Monero?
Definitely no.

Thank you.

It would be a major step to make a truly user friendly wallet. Monero, even with all it's other problems, has a nightmare wallet.

Aeon has always been the respectable cn coin and it's wallet is okay but should be easier on new people.

Vouch for this! I mean after all it wasnt hard to setup, but for people that never use a command console and arent tech savvy the "user-interface" of the wallet is kind of scary at the first glimpse. I am not aware of the development stage AEON is in right now, but I am very eager to be a part of the ecosystem and would love the see AEON prosper, but for widespread adoption there will be a need for easy to use and visually attracting wallets!

If it really repeats the same line again and again after many hours, something must be wrong. Can you post a screenshot of such a phenomenon?

Just to notice you: it worked now, the blockchain is synced and all is up and running. I was too quick with my concerns. Im sorry for that. It was the first time for me to setup a wallet like this! Thank you guys for your support, appreciate it!

I followed these rules to compile AEON wallet for Linux Ubuntu from source.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Aeon/comments/6exnrd/aeon_wallet_for_linuxubuntu/

First I gave this command.
sudo apt-get install build-essential cmake libboost-all-dev1
But it said the package can not be found.

Then I gave this command
sudo apt-get install build-essential cmake libboost-all-dev
And it installed the package.

So I just removed that number 1 from the command and the package was installed. Is That just fine? Will there be the cmake which is needeed?

Actually it is running now for quite some hours but is not really progressing that fast I think. It repeats the same line a lot of times and then suddenly one new line, and then again the same line with one number changed. then it repeats that line over and over and so on. You can see what I mean in the screenshot. Please tell me if its supposed to be like that! If its continuing like that than I guess it will take several months so sync 80k+ blocks.

Is aeon comparable with Monero? Is it worth to invest in it?

If you believe in the tech then yes, if you care only about trading then no;)

At aeon site there is only available windows wallet and source. Is it possible to compile a linux wallet from source?

Yes, because there is a source available.

Ime that looks fine, just a matter of time and it will synch!
Let the daemon run and you will eventually see in green text " SYNCHRONIZED OK "
Be sure to always use " Exit " command and it will save block chain. i have not ever had any problems with this wallet other than when I forgot and shut it down wrong.

Alright, I hope that you are right about that! I was just thinking that there must be something wrong with my system because it keeps repeating the same lines again and again, so I thought it might be stuck at the first blocks because it couldnt pass 401 as it seems (In the picture there are only 2 lines with block 401, but as I said, it was running for much longer already and always repeated this same line). I will run it again now and just wait for it to sync!

Hi all,
I'm curious about Aeon, looks interesting. I mined for a good 6h and I have a couple of questions. First of all mining is super fast (...for me...) Twice the speed of Monero, nice work !

- Xmrk stak gives me 1350H/s which is equal to approx 0.42AEON/day according to the miner profitability calculator
- After 6h of mining, I only got 0.05AEON which would be equal to 0.2 a day.
1) Any idea why so much difference?

2) Would you recommend aeon.sumominer.com pool which seems to offer a smaller starting difficultiry or aeon-pool.com pool (which just seemed to change from 1 to 2% fee during the night, unless I missed it last night) ?

3) Also, how do I move the blockchain.bin file to another disk/folder on Windows? At the moment it's in \AppData\Roaming ?

Thanks for your feedback

Hmmm, I just downloaded the zipfile from Github and tried to sync the blockchain with the daeond file, but it doesnt work. I think its not even starting to sync properly. Do I have to do anything upfront to make this work? Is there a dedicated telegram channel for AEON? Thanks in advance!

Edit: or if someone would be willing to help me out via telegram that would also be great!

Try visiting the hihoguy's website. Its filled with a bunch of useful information and is pretty well organized else you'd have to comb through all of the ANN pages to get a complete picture of AEON.

The same.
Had bad experience once sending coins with 0 tx mixin - but it was only my fault.

If you want to use 0 tx mixin then I recommend also using the --fee-multiplier option with multiplier 2 or 3. Otherwise there is a good chance that your transaction is delayed for a long time or dropped.

What is the best mixin number for a nice and quick transaction with the smallest waiting time possible? I have not transferred any coins going in or out of my wallet out of fear that the transaction might be stuck. I have some Aeons on Bittrex and HitBTC that I want to store in my wallet, now that the network is stable. Or is it?

Personally I've had no issues sending funds using mixin of 3 or 4.
Also, when withdrawing from exchanges, I don't think you have a choice over mixin and fee (at least on Bittrex).
In the worst case of your tx getting stuck and dropped, the money is never lost. You can get the state of your funds back to "unspent" by simply deleting the wallet cache file (with no file extension) and reopening the .keys file.

You need to be more specific about how it doesn't work in order to get any help. Post a log or a screenshot. Usually aeond should work by simply executing it without any options.

There's an IRC channel #aeon on freenode which is relayed to Slack (together with some other Monero channels). I think Needmoney90 is currently handling invitation requests:

Not sure about Telegram.

Thanks for helping me out here, sorry for not showing a picture in the first place. This is what I get. I just restarted it now to show you, but I already tried to let it run for about an hour and it justs keeps repeating the same yellow lines.

It *is* synching. The yellow lines are not the same; the number "X blocks behind" decreases as synch progresses. Wait for a couple of hours (or possibly a day or more depending on the capacity of your network and hardware) until the synch finishes.
