It's not a bad idea, we'll have to see if it's workable with our system.
If possible, do keep us updated regarding that idea please. From what I've seen (someone correct me if I'm wrong), this particular concept hasn't been implemented in a well known non-kyc service so far (I've just did a quick check on Bisq and robosats) so, from my perspective, the first service that implements it will benefit from it Smiley.

I wonder if there is any plan in implementing BIP47 (Reusable Payment Codes)[1]? Samourai Wallet has implemented this a while ago by creating what they call "PayNyms"[3]. For anyone wondering what "PayNyms" are, you can take a deep dive into this[3] excellent blog post. But to sum it up[3]:
Quote
  • Bob posts his PayNym on his website or social media account. He also shares the QR code version to make it easy for people to connect with him;
  • Alice opens her Samourai Wallet and scans Bob’s QR code;
  • Alice ‘follows’ Bob;
  • Alice also ‘connects’ with Bob (currently a 15,000 sats + miner fees);
  • Alice waits for the connection transaction to receive 1 confirmation;
  • Alice can now construct a transaction with Bob and her wallet will generate an address that only Bob can spend from;
  • Alice can now continually send Bob as many payments as she likes, each one being delivered to a new address that only Bob controls;
I think that this is a great concept to avoid posting public addresses thus allowing the users an increased privacy but I can be missing something between the lines. Would love some feedback about this Smiley.

I am curious.

Is there any reason why a fiat to crypto, crypto to crypto or crypto to fiat P2P exchange such as Agoradesk is not listed on an exchanger monitor like Best Change?
Been trying to see if they listed any p2p exchange and it's surprising there's non.

It could help with increased traffic if it was possible.

They're kind of in competition with BestChange, or they more-or-less provide the same service. The only difference is all the parties on BestChange present themselves as independent businesses whereas only some do on AgoraDesk. There appears to be greater recourse for trade deals that go south on AgoraDesk. Not that that's ever happened to me on either site, but on AgoraDesk you can see what appears to be more genuine and complete feedback, and negative feedback seems to more greatly affect the exchanger's ability to attract new customers there. Just my opinion after being a user of both services.

I edited the post twice, but I can't figure out why the misquoting is happening. (((
You've removed the first line from the quote, add this again:
Code:
[quote author=LocalMonero link=topic=5188930.msg62627888#msg62627888 date=1690814584]

We can't push for reviews as we think it should be voluntary, although we still hope LoyceV will join
Time is always against me Sad I still want to test AgoraDesk (and that would be my very first P2P transaction).
Thanks it helped!

Hopefully when you have more time you can try out the platform and enjoy the process.

In addition, we now have another campaigner (Loyce), I hope he will soon join the discussion and give an objective assessment of our platform!

Thank you for the heads-up, OP! Looking forward for more details about this announcement!

Other than that, do you have any news regarding when you will add the translations of the topic to OP? There are already at least 2 translations already finished ([1], [2]) and waiting to appear in OP Smiley

We also told our manager to send us the updated bbcode of the thread, so the links you provided will be added to the OP soon.

What baffles me is the fact that, between September 2019 and April 2023 only 5 posts were made inside this topic. Since April this year, though, there are 4 pages of posts
Probably is a mix of two factors - Users are, from one reason or another, tired of CEX's [...] and started embracing more the solutions that exist in the P2P space.

If this is so (and I hope you are right) I am more than happy. Perhaps this topic of mine would become irrelevant at some point in time. And, if it will happen, I will not feel bad. It's bad enough that it took people more than a decade to make such more and to finally open their eyes in front of the risks associated with CEXs, speaking at large, and with exposing their privacy, in particular. So I really hope you are right about that, Rick!

The second factor, albeit this can't be directly measured, would be the signature campaign that icopress is doing regarding spreading awareness for the project within users who visit bitcointalk. Not only that, they seem to be active at least on Reddit[1] (albeit few users go there), Mastodon[2] and Telegram[3].

While I have to confess that I never heard of Mastodon until now (), since I am not using social media, I have to congratulate icopress for his continuous work on the forum, both as a campaign manager and as a person trying to help others to preserve their privacy and anonymity. On one side, as a campaign manager he does a lot of good to the forum, by not tolerating spam / scam (and he is very good at that). On the other side, his actions towards users' privacy are priceless. I, for one, appreciate him a lot for all these.

I would say that they were also active on Twitter[4] but sadly I can't view tweets from them ever since Musk decided to inflict self-DDOS on Twitter[5] Smiley.

Whatever it was, it's great seeing more P2P adoption and I do hope it gets bigger in the future. Sadly I don't believe we'll ever have a P2P service that rivals with the likes of Coinbase, but whatever % of market share that they are able to steal from CEXs is a win.

Feedback:
You have to take it into consideration, but you can't make up your own mind. Maybe it's manipulated, or maybe the people who received the banknotes never realised that they needed to check them.
Sure, it can be manipulated, but it's easy to notice if one is keen enough. If it's a scammer manipulating feedback, then you are going to see negative feedback from genuine users he tried to scam or scammed.

- Checking banknotes: I can scan banknotes with a machine and say that the banknotes are counterfeit when in fact they are legal. I can then contact support and say "look, the banknotes are fake, I'm videoing it with my machine to prove it".
This is where your trade partner can counter your claim if he also made a video of the whole process before sending you the banknotes

Personally, I would prefer doing electronic cash transfer to avoid such sorts of headaches.

Following RickDeckard's initiative, I decided to translate this thread for Romanian board. The translated topic can be found here: [ANN] AgoraDesk.com | Cumpără ♻️ Vinde bitcoin anonim!.

I guess it would be nice if other users would also translate this thread for their local boards and also if OP would add these translations to the main topic.

I just want to report completing my third trade on AgoraDesk -- it works remarkably smoothly, more now that I have a handle on what I'm doing (not that its a complicated process; its quite straight-forward). There is a decent selection of sellers offering what I need for my particular purposes. I only had one order that didn't go through because the seller was out to lunch or something for over 90 minutes.

The note-leaving feature is handy so you can remind yourself of previous experiences with sellers (or buyers) without them having to know about it. Hope AgoraDesk lasts for a long time because it provides a much-needed service -- will probably be increasingly moreso in the future.

Hello JeromeTash

thanks for the reply.

Most of the things described are part of having common sense, but not everything is as easy as that.
Both on the member's side and on Agoradesk's side. Even for them it's not something easy to manage.

RickDeckard, We have also already been sent a translation made by you and we will add a link to the OP in the very near future!
In addition, we were notified about some other things, so we will edit the OP and make some changes to the FAQ.
I'm glad that icopress has sent you my translation and I hope it meets your expectations. While I was providing some answers to the community, I was left wondering how does this arbitration bond works[1] - does all the sellers place their bitcoin/xmr in a 2-of-3 multisig address?

[1]https://agoradesk.com/faq#protection

Nope, it's not a multisig address. Just a normal address. The bond is submitted to the platform.

Just a question:
How do you deal with disputes using the cash by mail option?
What about if I receive fake banknotes

It perhaps never happened but the risk is not 0% and harder to deal with compared to others options
I believe it would be handled just like any other dispute, where the admin would step into the chat and ask for both parties to present their pieces of evidence before they make a fair decision.

If one as a buyer or seller carefully follow the laid out instruction (Staying Safe With Cash by Mail) in case a dispute arises, they will have more than enough evidence to present to the mediator.
