Hi guys, any addnodes?

Tried the following ones but didn't work
addnode=americancoin.ignorelist.com
addnode=ns004.unternet.net

The only thing you can do is download the blockchain https://github.com/americancoin-project/americancoin2013/releases/download/v0.17.1amershi-beta/AmericancoinNov2022Chain.tar.xz and mine it with two nodes.
Probably no other nodes running.

Blockchain is stuck in November 2022.

As we speak in https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.50946852, a new wallet was released in 2019.

The wallet works without any issues, with the same parameters of previous original wallet, but the blockchain is stuck in November 2022.
Blockchain can be found here: https://github.com/americancoin-project/americancoin2013/releases/download/v0.17.1amershi-beta/AmericancoinNov2022Chain.tar.xz

You also can find the last release software here https://github.com/americancoin-project/americancoin2013/releases/tag/v0.17.1amershi-beta

Due to the lack of miners, I will not manage or update it anymore.

You can clone the software used in https://github.com/americancoin-project/americancoin2013.
Adding nodes manually must work without any problems.
Good luck,

for what it's worth, I reached out to Steven Steiner, CEO of freebitcoins.com, and asked him to list AmericanCoin on the exchange. he's open to the idea! -- jc

(Just confirming that I, Steven Steiner, was reached out too and we are reviewing AmericanCoin to be listed on our XChange.)

Things move kind of slow on our end because there are so few of us working at FreeBitcoins.com for obvious reasons, but after our front end update and we add a few privacy coins.... we are going to most likely add American Coin after it passes our review!

If she gets approved... I'd expect we have a market running for it around Feb-April 2020!

[We may or may not add Americancoin, but I will for sure look deeper into it.]

old client dead

no, not dead, you could still run it. but it had a serious bug in it all along that made discovery of other AmericanCoin servers fail via IRC; so after AMCCoin lost their domain, and DNS seeds were no longer useful for finding servers, very few connections were found. some of the last I had, at least a year ago maybe more, were 128-73-148-39.broadband.corbina.ru and ns3311733.ip-5-135-163.eu. remember those? anyway I never thought to troubleshoot the problem until you mentioned the other day that you couldn't sync. that's when I got motivated to locate and fix the bug.

so, in short: you can run the old client as long as enough other people are running the fixed one.

not sync

I'm seeing this too. I could only get it to sync by using a "-connect=" option. troubleshooting it.

How to use it?
I'll let you know as soon as I have a fix for it. meanwhile you can *maybe* sync to ns004.unternet.net with a `connect=ns004.unternet.net` directive in ~/.americancoin/americancoin.conf. let me know if it doesn't work.

update: `addnode=ns004.unternet.net` also worked for me.

start sync, thanks! the old wallet is dead?
no, your old wallet should be just fine. you backed it up I hope!

tonight I finally found and fixed the root cause of the wrong port numbers, with revision 4b557e22b. I notice @collapse also has the correction, but I found it independently.

looks like I lost all the blocks I mined since 2018-12-10. they're showing up as orphaned in ns004.unternet.net's `listtransactions`. ah well, c'est la vie. I still don't see any nodes to peer with on irc, where are you guys?

[UPDATE] just verified and corrected the quickstart instructions at https://github.com/jcomeauictx/AmericanCoin. I'm hoping I can let this go for a while, I've got other projects to work on!

commit 606a7aee08 from https://github.com/jcomeauictx/AmericanCoin *should* fix the syncing problem without having to use -addnode or -connect. check out the new wheezy.mk and buster.mk files and the possibly-outdated instructions in the new README.

NOTE: [added later]...

BACK UP your wallet before running! in fact, I'd recommend renaming your $HOME/.americancoin directory, making a new one, and *copying* the saved wallet.dat and americancoin.conf into that new directory. once the blockchain has been downloaded fresh, you should see your balance restored, but *it will be zero* right after starting the rebuilt daemon.

if you don't want to do the above, at least remove or rename your current $HOME/.americancoin/peers.dat file, because as long as the old addresses with a port of 9057 are in there, it's unlikely you're going to be able to connect.

I'd also recommend removing or commenting out the `addnode=` and `connect=` lines in your americancoin.conf file, just to make sure the discovery mechanism is working as it should.

WARNING: [added still later]: if you're using a non-default listen port, *WAIT* for next bugfix. I used GetDefaultPort() instead of GetListenPort().

UPDATE 2020-01-24T07:50PST

revision 9a1b9c3 seems to be good. I submitted a pull request to AMCCoin, in case the original coder is still alive...
