Sorry, why can not I find more information about this project?
probably because very few are interested in it. there are only a few full nodes running, there are no block explorers, and no exchanges list it. most people don't know it exists.

Is is PoW, PoS, Masternodes?  Algorithm?  Wallet?  Besides the cool name, what distinguishes this from a shitcoin?
PoW, Scrypt, wallet is desktop only, most up to date software I know of is my branch https://github.com/jcomeauictx/AmericanCoin. but it doesn't have anything distinguishing it. just another out-of-date Litecoin clone.

http://amccoin.com

network has 14mhs so far i think.

It seems the blocks start generating coins soon at block 7000 it is just starting up now to give people a chance to put their miners on it.

Hey cryptohunter,

Can you edit the first message with some details about this coin?  Is is PoW, PoS, Masternodes?  Algorithm?  Wallet?  Besides the cool name, what distinguishes this from a shitcoin?

Thanks

how to add this coin to the exchange?

first you have to ask yourself why anybody who has invested the time, money, and effort to building an exchange would want to list it. sure you have plenty of people who want to sell, but what about people who want to buy? where are they? if you can find those people, and have them ask the people who run the exchange sites to list it, then you might see some action.

Why only 8 active connections?
that's 4 times as many as I generally get.

Code:

for sure I could do that, but I'm trying to find out if the blockchain forked. if it did, then double-spending is possible and the coin is valueless. can you check your blk0001.dat and see which (if either) it corresponds to?

never mind, that was an orphan block. my 32-bit machine has lots of them in the .dat file. I took your advice meanwhile and am starting clean with just wallet.dat on ns003.

[update...]
ns003 and aspire are now synced! thanks for the help, and sorry for all the drama... I really want AMC to survive, and didn't want to throw in the towel, but it looked bad for a few days there.

Seems that your copy in 64 bit machine it's corrupted.
Check the disk, delete files in folder (except wallet.dat) and download again the blockchain.
You can add in configuration file connect=your_32bit_machine_IP.

actually, it probably was an attack. the 64-bit node is the one that didn't accept the block, and my 32-bit node did. it could be this same signature attack: https://talk.peercoin.net/t/invalid-checkpoint/3691/17

I don't know what to do about it, unless there are enough of us left to want to bother saving it. I could probably figure out how to make that same patch into the AMC code if there's enough interest.

I have some more info on this:

from aspire (32-bit), running parser.py, I found 6cd5e6a343 at block 404340,
which equates to block 291702 in debug.log, since the actual block numbers
in blk0001.dat are 112638 higher (counting genesis block as block 0). there
is only one transaction in this block, the coinbase transaction, so the Merkle
root of the block is the same as the transaction hash.

so now to figure out why the index entry was not found. perhaps a corrupted blk0001.dat file on the affected machine. but if not, then I've got to dig into the script for that transaction and debug how the 64-bit daemon processes it differently than the 32-bit.

[later...]

there's a difference in the files. the blockchain forked.

I shut down my node for a few days and just started again this morning. something went wrong. what is it, a 50% attack? is AMC finally dead for good?

never mind, it was just something wrong with that node. another one accepted that same block no problem:
