Because the dev has done absolutely nothing to promote this in Cyprus. Nothing.

The only news report existing is a self-penned Reuters article where the dev has declared Cyprus to be in Greece! http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/03/11/aphroditecoin-idUSnPnPHyVMkN+16d+PRN20140311

(Cyprus is an island in the Eastern Med with a population of Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot residents who fought over who had the most awesome God some time ago and have been shitty towards each other ever since. What it is *not*, is in Greece.)

I told people weeks ago not here though sorry. This coin is a scam. I watched it go from 600k to 1 sat in a matter of a minute. And then I watched someone sell 430 coins at one sat .00000001 at this time the price was dumped on all exchanges. Sorry if your holding bags but this coin was a scam. And a nasty one at that. They could of been smart ans slowly bleed it out over time but they just dumped on everyone....

This coin is going to be taken off of Poloniex. Better sell if you still have some coins there...

I think most altcoins announced here, and I don't need to name them, on bitcointalk are completely pointless and have no real world application whatsoever outside of this small sandbox, but I don't go post on boards and insult supporters of those because I have better things to do with my time. If the fraud committed by Aphroditecoin serves a purpose here and makes idiots like you think they are too smart to invest in any other country coin then fine, the benefits will be enjoyed by someone more deserving in the end.

You are an idiot if you think any country named bitcoin clone (made by total anonymous fraudsters who don't even live in that country) are not  "completely pointless".  You are also an idiot if you think merchants in a country will accept as payment (send you goods, gold, silver, food) in return for such coins, when you were given the "coins" for "free" in "airdrop" (if that even happens).

The whole idea, starting with anonymous fraudsters living in mom's basement issuing the coins to a country they pick randomly from the map, to "free airdrop" is stupid.

You are an idiot, dude.

dragonseer is either involved in the scam itself (developer's sock puppet) or he is missing about 50% of his brain cells.

Think about this: An unknown scammer with very little programming skills sitting in his mom's basement spends 1 hour to clone code, clone a website, and create a twitter account, and then proclaims this "coin" will now be the unofficial currency of this country (he picks it randomly from the map) .

dragonseer starts buying the coins and insists the coin will change the economy of the country, and merchants in that country will accept it as legitimate payment to sell goods.

Talk about being stupid.

You can't tell if I am the developer or just another investor here, but I'm the stupid one, are you joking?

I'm holding more than one national coin, and it should be obvious to everyone that there is risk involved... Risk that the developer is planning to commit fraud and dump the pre-mine is one risk. Another risk is that regulatory environments will prohibit use of the coin. Another risk is that the verification process for the airdrop will fail or be hacked. Another risk is that posts by trolls with no imagination will spam message boards with FUD and insult anyone that wants to support a coin with a real world purpose. But if just one of the national coins I've invested in achieves its goals it will make up for any ones that don't. Maybe you don't think there is a chance that will happen, guess what, I don't give a shit.

what a scamcoin.

https://www.poloniex.com/exchange/btc_aph

2.3 million coins on waiting list to be sold. also the aphroditecoin.org has been deleted.

it says 7.5 million coins avalible to mine, right thats why its been exchanged millions of coins each day. fuckings retards who made this just to get money, give public a few coins and then keep 50% for urself or more just to make money. this is all such a scam. what coins can we even trust that is pre-mined. man they pre-mine and give away 30% and have the rest themself to ruin the coin like this one. since they deleted the org website there is no place to update or download wallet. wich means, coin is over and out.

The idea is that the economy will recover from its shock in spring 2013 and the Cypriots will get back their jobs and can come back to their normal lives.

Yeah sure.

http://coinmarketcap.com/2.html

nr 112, it says aphroditecoin has total 84 000 coins.

why is this? before it was on top 100. and i see millions of coins exchanged all the time at poloniex.com.

this looks like a big scam. like the dev's has forked the coin and was selling it to people. waow !?

Coinmarket cap has redone their calculations, the number is what has been produced by miners. So 84000 coins produced, and over 1 million coins last I checked available for sell orders on poloniex. So, dev has dumped the premine and gone silent. Out of all the country/region coins, this is the only one you can say is a scam for sure.

EDIT: Also, as my final say on the matter, if I was going to be suspicious of forum members being involved in this scam, then there are two members posting here that could be involved. Both Niothor and flipstyle posting here both do the following:

1. Defend the developer's fraud.
2. Spend a great deal of time posting FUD and personal insults on other country/region coins.
3. Gain some perverse pleasure at seeing people lose their money to Aphroditecoin or any similar venture.
4. Refuse to acknowledge that there is any merit to conducting an airdrop and introducing people to cryptos this way.
5. Are generally horrible people.

There may yet be a way to salvage this coin and do something with it for the benefit of Cyprus, I'll post again here if anyone is interested and there is a way to contribute. Otherwise, there is no point in buying this coin at all and it should be left alone.

You damn retard!

I am involved in this scam crap ?

Wtf is wrong with your head? Did the whole animal kingdom s*** in it?
You have too much bone and no brain there you idiot.

I warned everybody here that this guy has no clue about cyprus , he doesn't know that half of Cyprus is Turkish he hasn't a clue about anything there probably not even where it is located on the map.

But you , you defended this coin and made lots of people loosing money on this scam. And now you accuse me?
