It's easy for bumface to be confident because he already made some money, which he already re-invested in unrelated activities, not so much for us peons who gotta pay bills.

the reason i invested in scrypt asics, is to have money monthly to develop services for UTC, so that is absolutely related.i could have bought a new pc,or a 4k screen or go on a vacation ( my last vacation was 9 years ago). i also bought a bed for 300 euro, because i was sleeping on the floor for 8 years......

Ok, I know that, but they're not direct Investments, and they would be profitable for you either way UTC goes, that was the point I was making.

Instead many of the people who're worried, as you can read in some comments, don't have any certainty and didn't make any money YET, so it's normal for them to want the coin to do well and freak out when price drops.

what is better? A: use the money once and its gone , or B: invest in something that wil create money every month.....im thinking long term

What do you guys want Bumface to do, magically make the price jump to 0.0001 again. These things take time, the coin is still new. Everyone was expecting a quick profit. Dont get me wrong i wouldnt mind a nice profit now, but it doesnt work like that.

All that you are doing by complaining on this thread and saying your dumping and giving up on UTC, is making other people negative too. If you want to give up just quietly dissapear.

And for people that complain about losing money, never invest what you cannot afford to lose. Im gonna stay on UTC long term because i beleive this coin has a future.

And also if you complain about making a loss, its your own fault for selling at this crazy low prices.

As long as i have UTC in my wallet i have not made a loss

Here is my suggestion.

Miners are NOT the bad guys.  You need Miners mining your coin or it turns to shit (no volume, no one buying, just dumping).

UTC is on enough "good" exchanges.

Now the thing with miners is that they don't give a shit about your coin.  They only care about immediate profit.  If their daily electricity cost is $1 and they make $1.10 mining your coin, they'll do it.  Now, if another coin makes them $1.30 then guess what.  They'll do it.  Like I said, they do not care about your coin or community.

But like I said, miners are NOT the bad guys.  It costs them money to mine and they are in turn part of the UTC network which keeps it nice and decentralized, provides proof of work so you get your nice confirmations...  So you can get coins in the first place!

If you want UTC to rise, do the following:

  • Point all your miners to UTC.  Some big time miner whales need to do this.  Be prepared to not make as much profit as you do mining other coins.
  • Sell all your other coins and buy UTC.
  • Offer me something at a good price that I can buy for UTC.

For example, someone offer this shirt for 50 UTC and I'll buy it (size large please): http://www.51attack.com/shop/moon-t-shirt/

Not a fair deal you say?  Well at if UTC was $1 then I'm paying $50 for a $20 shirt.  That's more than double.  Still a bad deal?  And you expect UTC to go back to $1 or reach $5 or $10?  Well if you do, then get me a shirt.  I'm totally serious.  I have over 1000+ UTC sitting around doing nothing that I can't do anything with except watch it devalue because guess what?

Why is it devaluing?  Because no one is mining and which means volume is low, and so on and so forth.

1) What is the idea behind so quick changes of nfactor. We do not have asics yet, this makes only confusion. Is it possible to change it? Are you willing to do that?
2) If I understand PoS well, it will fire after year. Again, what is the reason? Wouldn't it be more attractive to have monthly PoS? Is it possible to change it? Are you willing to do that?

1) Scrypt-Jane unlike regular Scrypt has a changing NFactor over time .  This basically means you get a lower hash rate and require more RAM over time.  It can't really be changed as it is part of the coins initial design.  When you design an Scrypt-Jane coin you define Start time and the initial NFactor.  The schedule is now on the first page of this thread.

With UTC it started with nFactor 4.  From the code:

Code:
minNfactor = 4
nChainStartTime = 1388361600 // This is Mon, 30 Dec 2013 00:00:00 GMT

2) Again this is by design.

From the code:

Code:
nStakeMinAge = 60 * 60 * 24 * 365; // This is 1 year is seconds for minimum PoS

NOW, to make any changes to initial settings is quite difficult.  It requires forking the code.  This is difficult as it requires coordination amongst parties so that every has an up to date UTC client PRIOR to any changes kicking off.

Thanks for your explanation. Now I understand that change of this parameters is probably not going to happen. So I'll continue to mine and hope that everything will pay off at the end.
Small tip sent.

As I anticipated, legitimate criticism and suggestions were labeled as trolling and met with the usual "if you don't like UTC git out" / "burn the heretic" mentality.

I don't know if you noticed or cared, but many of the "negative trolls" who left were day-1 adopters, or at least what could be considered "veterans".

Vizique in particular was pretty much a vehement utc fanatic always labeling criticism as trolling just like you're doing now.

Having someone like him leave, would trigger an alarm in my head if I were the dev let alone a regular user.

I also noticed many of the early most active members haven't posted in quite a few dozen pages.

You see trolls and negative-nancies, all I can see is worried, disillusioned people, and maybe rightly so.

Therefore, we can either, as a community, be constructive, organized and transparent (essentialy throughbumface's action though) and firm, or my guess is we're going to have  more and more "vizique" giving up.

You didn't make the 200 satoshi comment, so back off my nuts.  You are a perpetual negative nancy, though.  Come to think of it, you were adamant in pointing out that bumface didn't want to "invest" in bribing mintpal for votes.  I can only imagine your comments now if he in fact did such a thing.

To 0.0001 I can bring it in few seconds, to 0.001 it would be hard.
The point is mining is even with this price more profitabile than most other coins, only few are more profitable atm and only because pump and dump.
Problem is that after CT hacked I don't see UTC volume on exchange and that pulls price down.

Yes we are down on very low volume.  Try buying 20K UTC and see where the price ends up.
I'm mining with 22MH (scrypt) and buying 10-20pcs always from sell side, I was buying at 009, 007, 004, ... and I'm holding my 15K, I would buy more if I could   Smiley

Thanks for speaking up.  I am sure there are more of us who hold this viewpoint and understand, but we are drowned out by those obsessed with play by play negativity.  As if anyone holding any amount of UTC is really going to sell it for a couple hundred satoshis....  Why even bother trolling us with this nonsense?
