meaningless or not, my account (from 2014) is no longer "legacy" and it is now a "new" account. and i never received any warning telling me i need to do anything in the past 3 years that i have been using bittrex!

... and now my money is stuck in their pocket and i can not get it out!

its bad to hear that. did you already try to give some ID verification again?

SUMMARY - This product has massive security flaws, essentially it doesn't work and is easy to hack - publicly available photos off the web will match driver's licence pics. The other thing is that they get you to pay $10,000 as a minimum pre-payment. We thought we would be right because they have/had some big names on their client list. By the time we worked out their product was flawed (details below) we had already paid them their $10k and now they won't give any of it back. Because the product essentially doesn't work as we expected it to we were never able to use their product.
I think they are hugely unethical and a horrible business to deal with. You should avoid this company. They do not do the right thing by their customers.
THE DETAIL:
We have a Peer to Peer Car Sharing startup in Australia, and our original plan was to use Jumio to help us with the verification of our members.
Around February/April 2015 we took out a test account with Jumio, and our CTO did a few very basic tests for a new system we were planning on building into our platform. After the tests, we thought that the product was going to suit our needs.
In June 2015 we purchased $10,000 of credits based on that assumption that we were going ahead. We would have started with a smaller amount but Jumio only transacts in $10,000 blocks.
In July/August 2015 we began attempting to develop jumio into our product, and during our live user testing and analysis of the results, we discovered that NetVerify couldn't meet our requirements in terms of a seamless upload experience for new members and reliability of fraud detection.
Some of the issues we encountered during further testing were:
Facial matches were too easy to hack. Someone simply uploading a publicly-available Facebook photo would come back with a positive match, rendering the facial match score unreliable from a fraud perspective, and reintroducing the need for manual face matching on our side . Our developer did this and got a 94% match and it completely knocked the confidence out of us for the Jumio product.
The NetVerify upload process failed on too many occasions as clarity/lighting conditions were humanly readable but failed on the Jumio step. This made for a an problematic signup process for too many applicants.
We weren't able to upload the documents of our choice - we required a generic document upload where we could direct the user to upload a Medicare card or Passport as appropriate to their circumstances.
The tool wouldn't correctly isolate first / middle names on certain Australian states and thus fail on a name match when only the first and last names were provided.
During this time we concluded the NetVerify documents / face match upload didn't meet our preferred requirements and we were being forced to change our requirements to meet the capabilities of the tool, rather than the tool satisfying our requirements.
For these reasons, and our tight timeframes, we built our own solution to collect the ID and driver licences and we are manually checking the faces.
In Jan 16 (when our massive development efforts had reduced somewhat) we contacted our Jumio representative requesting a return of the $10,000 in unused credits due to the above. He never returned the email. After multiple attempts to different emails we finally got a response.
I discussed our situation with this representative and one of his superiors and we arrived at the following conclusions:
-They agreed with me that all of our issues stated above were known issues/ weaknesses in the Jumio platform
-They agreed that it would have been hard for us to know about these issues until we started full on developing against them.
Despite this I have been informed by senior Jumio execs that Jumio is refusing to return any portion of the $10,000.
I think that this is crooked and no way to run a business. Avoid them, use a more ethical company or build it yourself, as we found out, it's not all that hard!

And Bittrex is forcing you to send all your sensitiv data to such an unethical company

I am one of the victims of bittrex exchange, one of the thousands who do not know why Bittrex betrayed them. Our accounts on the Bittrex has been blocked since 12/10/2017. We still do not know if Bittrex wants to confiscate our assets. They give us no clear answer. Maybe they have no bad intentions, and this is a technical problem, but how do you feel when you trust a currency exchange and enter the portion of your capital that you have been working to get it, and then see them one day, without counting the reason They have blocked you, and after 9 days they have not yet provided a reason for this. Some say it's about the boycott of some countries, if so, should ordinary people also be harmed? Are accounts with one or two bitcoins worth of funds owned by governments?

i have been a bittrex user for years now and since my account was old the account type was "Legacy" and my limit has always been high. (recently changed to 1337BTC). everything was fine and i continued using bittrex without any issue.

now out of the blue my account type is changed to lowest possible account! and i am not willing to give bittrex any documentation.
i would like to take my money out and use another exchange but it is stuck too!

sent a ticket too.

(this is a big scam by bittrex in my opinion, they are harvesting bitcoin users identification by forcing this new rule upon them)

The biggest issue I have with this, my legacy account displayed withdrawals up to 1337.
It displays this before you deposit, during your deposit, until you want to cash out...such a nasty move, holding people's money hostage in exchange for all their private personal information.

First off, I'm a big fan of Bittrex... and they are #1 in US alt volume for good reasons.

The 1337 number is meaningless...
It really means you have a "legacy" unverified account and can withdraw 1 BTC/day.

I'm still able to trade normally and withdraw 1 BTC/day...
But I have seen other activity at Bittrex that makes me very nervous  Shocked

Last time they announced it weeks before.


 My support number is 294... and I was late to the party, I see some here are 322... so they have at least 30k of support emails to get through, You think with communication a wqeek out would have avoided it.
Something isnt right and they are trying to hide it. maybe accounts emails got hacked. They will be taking a bit hit on this, imagine what it is hiding then?

i am still in loss with alt dumps and btc high
i wondering my self how i trust a site and give them 8 btc, its my fault to trust them, and they dont respect this trust for even say any proper word about why they disable my account ,my account was enhanced pass port verified, and i am very regret why put my money there and worth why i give them my document, when they break simple money trust there is no reason that i think my docs are safe in there.


You have legal options, locking accounts with no explanation then the poor one they gave is theft. I wouldnt be surprised if we see a case start to be put together by some victims

Yes seems their enhanced verification is working now. But they are slow to respond to enable accounts as I am still waiting for mine to be enabled. I hope they fix it asap a week being locked out of our funds is pretty insane in any industry but I guess anything flies with crypto.  Undecided

No it doesn't You would be mad to have funds on Trex again after this, Only exchanges in trouble pull this sort of shit.

You all see all the twitter replies to Bittrex's latest post...I am also disabled but only have a few thousand in it, I can't imagine all the people who have their life savings/six figures stuck in Bittrex...I would be pulling my hair out from the stress...I really hope they get around to fixing all these issues since Bittrex was my favorite exchange till now...I like their interface the most...

Going to wait and see whats going on before I do any trading on Bittrex.
Never had any problems, and I trade there everyday
Just don't want to take a chance with whats going on now

I guess that says it all.No banning of customers from slack who are looking for support/help because of their disabled / limited accounts ?


So in generall Bittrex is saying people with basic or disabled accounts are spamming,phising and making general abuse.

Thanks for that information @ Bittrex , i thought till today that we are also customers of Bittrex
