Correct BLK was initially distributed as a POW network but that phase ended after just some weeks. Ever since 2014 its been Proof of stake network which has substantial advantages in (network) cost and efficiency over the POW method. Smart money is usually to hold at least some of a new project or a new direction taken on an old project like this one.
I'll hold a little of both as they develop, I think POS will increasingly compare well to POW and the general public still miss the point of why POW suffers from higher costs in its operations. Free markets are driven by efficiency so it will matter over time

Cool, nice to know, i only noticed as i was syncing up the last week with my wallet to make another burn and it was taking ridiculous amount of time which i assume is due to all the block verification being done, large number of orphans showing in the log. amazing amount of transactions this month, i believe its an all time high for BLK, and total transaction volume on blockchain is probably higher then majority of altcoins for the last month.

Wow, awesome little site, nice to keep track of in this manner.
I'm quite amazed about the amounts that some people are burning, also because there is sparse info. Quite some people burning around 10k coins, the biggest even being 249k, crazy
249k is really a lot, this guy will have a big share from the Blacknet project.
I expect most blackcoin will be burned.
Rat4 created pos3 which is basically what stands out about the project.
If he is moving to blacknet it would make sense for most to move there too right?
i keep some BLK for Ercoin, it will also use IBO of BLK coins

The problem with alot of the networks even these newer ones is their overall cost of operation and confirmation. If the cost to process everyday is too high then you start to exclude the widest population, the most casual users of that crypto that might otherwise hold a bit of your coin. Since we got many billions in the world who have zero direct interest in crypto but might get involved if it was seen as useful online as a type of payment or value exchange, I think thats a big deal. Just being popular today with speculators I dont rate so much as they will just move on, I much prefer if its possible able to include everyone to some extent.
