Quote from: bitcoin42
Was freaking AWESOME! Guys, you need to try this. Well, release is super soon then everyone can have a go with it.

I made a couple of orders with David. It's so chill! Ebay can pack their bags and leave for good when this takes off! Or they should adopt!

You can make counter offers, negotiate, post offer, create a own market, send easy to emails, even coins password protected, do joint accounts and use the also in the market, hide keys in pictures, oh my gosh this is so amazing!

Loved it. We made like 5 deals within 20 mins.

Sorry for being so excited about this. But this is history in the making! What a game changer!

Try it out for yourselves guys!

https://blog.bittylicious.com/2015/03/coins-at-risk-vertcoin-quark-peercoin-and-worldcoin/

Blackcoin not meeting sales expectations on UK fiat->crypto exchange Bittylicous.  If you buy BTC from there, why not buy in BLK and get it in your wallet faster? ;-)
Peercoin is far from being at risk..
Why would Bittylicious write that if it is not true, and not only that, even have PPC mentioned in the blog entry headline?
Nobody is talking about PPC in general, just about "risk" to be removed from that UK-Mainly trading platform.

I asked Bittylicious @reddit, they are going to add another payment method for europeans who don't want to use SEPA soon....

I think the price of blackcoin is around where it should have started. It seems to be a fair price, I've picked up a few recently just to hold on to.

I agree. And i hope exco.in does well after relaunch Smiley.

The markets have been in private tests for several days. There will be a full public release in a couple days or we can wait for all of the "user friendly templates" to be completed. Its up to you guys. The templates may take a couple weeks. NightTrader is one of them. NT may take an extra couple weeks though to get more coins on the exchange and see if i can run spv clients.

I would much prefer that we wait for a product that includes usable templates, a product that people can just use immediately.

If the non-tech-savvy market get hold of it in a not-quite-ready-for-them state, I believe most will not bother to keep track of developments to find out when it is in a state that is relevant for them. People have limited disposable time. You need to hit them with a product that simply works. That, when they try it out, they grasp immediately, with no need for head scratching, no need to think about what bolts on where, no need to think "Oh ok that's not quite ready but I'm happy to wait until it is."

You've been working on this for a long time David. Why rush the final stage ? Give the ecosystem as complete a product as you possibly can.

Well if I wait, I really need BC people to start testing it. I posted on reddit however got few testers and really didnt see anyone accept my offers. Its funny, i posted free coins in the markets (about $2 each). I can raise that amount even. Most of the tests come from Jean Marc(Lanthan) and I. However, we need to know that it works on ALL Linux platforms and ALL Mac platforms. So we need a good amount of testers.

I see, it's a hmmmm moment isn't it ? I'm on Windows here and so, although I'd be interested to check it and test, it might not be much use to you ( PM a link if you like ). So, with less than optimal testing on Mac & Linux, will you be going for soft launch then ramp it up at a later date once you're happy it's working ?

One of the many reasons people will want to use Blackcoin over Bitcoin is NightTrader exchange will be able to perform the escrows much faster with Blackcoin as the security deposit. Realize since they are deposits, volatility wont matter at all. You only need BC to leverage the microtrader.

Is it necessary to wait for confirmation(s) before the trade can occur? How big of a risk do you estimate it would be to accept zero confirm collaterals?

Depends on if you can access the mempool for that coin. For example, if you are on Bitcoin, Bitcoin is centralized. Instead of waiting for confirmations, you can assume it will be ok as long as the TX is in one of the mempools for the top mining rigs.

However, i really dont recommend zero confirmations. Just because if anyone realizes this, they will work hard to exploit it even if only once. Even a mining pool can see we are doing this and profit off it.

Regardless, all that matters is that you know the trade is going through. I think we can confidently wait for one confirmation. Perhaps we should let the users specify this in their offer?

is blackcoin dying? Tongue

Rat4 is still doing commits to Blackcoin. And I'm also making software and working daily on Blackcoin. BlackHalo will have NightTrader decentralized exchange very soon. I recommend people support this amazing coin.

Blackcoin does also have decentralized markets now. The only coins in the world to have this is Blackcoin Bitcoin and Bitbay. Those markets are perfectly trustless, they dont use arbiters and leverage smart contracts. This party is just about to get started.

Can someone tell me - does Bithalo require you to download the whole bitcoin blockchain?

I downloaded it but I can't see any indication that its synching either on Bithalo or blackhalo mode. I just want to have a play and test out the smart contracts so getting either one working would be ok, but I'd prefer to use bitcoin.

No it does not. BitHalo uses 3 different apis Blockchain.info, Biteasy and Electrum. BlackHalo does download the blockchain. I may give BitHalo users the option to download the blockchain in the future.

via @phs-forum on bitcointalk!

Here is part of calc on BTC at time of March 2015, maybe expert people do more research into this, from this perspective need of fully POS coins is given by math.

Code:

I updated current Bitcoin electric energy consumption, calculated like here:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2hlwpy/5_terrawatt_per_hour_bitcoin_network/cktv3xl

BTC global hashrate:
360.000.000 Megahash/Second

Source: https://blockchain.info/charts/hash-rate

Current mining efficiency:
Optimistic: 0.51 Wh per Gigahash/s

Source: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/antminer-s5-1155ghoverclock-potential-in-stock-0319gh-051wgh-902305

Consumption of the network per year:
(360 000 000 / 1000) * 0.51 = 183 600 kWh per hour

183 600 x 24 x 365 = 1 608 336 000 kWh p.a. = 1.6 Terrawatthours per year

Please correct some numbers you know better, even if 10% is real, too much carbon is burning in this moment, possible >1,6 million tons of coal a year, by a software with only 3 billions market cap, what else can go wrong?

Hi

In fact the starting point is 0.51 J/GH, which equates 0,000277778 Wh/GH, not 0.51 Wh per GH/s

This is a pretty tricky conversion to use to go from Joules to KWh and Wh: 1J = (1/3600000)kWh = 1 Ws = 0,000277778 Wh
This can help: http://www.unitconversion.org/unit_converter/energy.html

In addition, the total Hashrate is 360 000 000 GH/s, not MH/s.

Then if you assume 1,842 kWh per ton of Coal following US Energy Information Administration, the estimate would be >870'000 tons of coal...
Source: http://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.cfm?id=667&t=6

See below-
Power Efficiency    0,51        J/GH
Total BTC GH/s    360 000 000,00        GH/s
Total BTC GH/H    1 296 000 000 000,00        GH/H

Hourly BTC energy consumption (J/H)    662 025 974 025,97        J/H
Hourly BTC energy consumption (KWh/H)    183 896,10        KWh/H

Yearly BTC energy consumption (KWh/Y)    1 610 929 870,13        KWh p.a.

Tons of Coal/Kwh    0,0005429        T/KWh
Yearl coal consumption    874 554,76        T p.a.

I've double-checked with the calculator from Coinwarz and the math square. On average, the J/GH consumption may be roughly double of the AntMiner you used as a starting point - so  you have ultimately produced a good estimate of Coal consumption Wink

This is indeed VERY bad.

my resume:DONT mine,buy PoS/coins...woooohoooo  Cool
