8-bit, implementing the changes to keep the blockchain moving should be the primary focus. The changes are small, and should be not that hard to merge. Unfortunate I cannot code well, but the changes look pretty straight forward. I just cannot see if it will cause bugs.

Hopefully someone stands up to implement the change.

The network has been moving much better over the last week. Thanks to everyone who is staking! Smiley

If you have a lot of Cannacoin it would benefit the network by spreading your coins over several different addresses and wallets

It appears Bittrex has removed the yellow banner: https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-CCN

Please keep an eye on your wallet and make sure its ready to stake. I see a few large wallets not staking consistently, but once a month or so. Although your able to create more CannaCoins this way, keeping the network functioning properly is far more important at this time. If you have any spare computers around the house it may be worthwhile to install the CannaCoin wallet and put them on the network as well.

I sent an email to Bittrex explaining that the next wallet update will fix the blockchain issue. In the meantime if everyone could keep an eye on their qt wallet and make sure its open to stake at all times that would help move the network along. Fartbags is right, this is a good coin and there's a community to support it.

The network is moving pretty well the last day or two. I sent a small donation over to Chainz for 6 months of hosting for CannaCoin. I haven't heard back from Bittrex, but we have traded there since early 2014, so hopefully that is taken into consideration. We can seek out other smaller exchanges as well.

Or maybe someone needs to buy a bunch of coins and stake them. This coin is almost at record low prices so you definitely aren't getting ripped off if you can save the coin and get it staking again.

thats tantamount to extortion

Are the devs aware that the split threshold is set to 50% of the coins total supply?
This high split threshold is also why the coin is seeing only 100 or so blocks/day versus the 1440/day it should be.

I would suggest either lowering the threshold to 500 or implementing the custom threshold code from other coins like hyperstake.

Rdyoung, thanks for voicing your concerns about the network. Would you mind dropping a referencing the portion of code where you are think there might be an issue? Ill take a look and review but first Im trying to determine what "split threshold" you're talking about exactly.  If there is a problem and it needs to be fixed I can easily add an update to the next wallet release along with some other minor changes being made like 8_bit said.

When you integrated POSv from reddcoin you left the reddcoin code untouched for the split, the split threshold is the size at which the code will split 1 output into 2 when staking. The issue here is that there is only 4.xmillion coin in circulation but the threshold was left at 2million which worked for RDDs billions.

In short the network doesn't have enough inputs trying to stake, therefore there will be times when no inputs are mature enough to stake and no blocks can be staked. It also doesn't matter if someone manually splits up their balance into a bunch of smaller inputs in attempt to push the network, eventually those inputs will get combined into 1 larger block.

Here is the relevant code in wallet.cpp
// we split the coinstake output in two to avoid concentrating
// too many coins in one output. currently almost always split.
unsigned int nStakeSplitAge = 45 * 24 * 60 * 60; // 45 days
// avoid concentrated transactions. on average, each block contains:
// generated interest  ~= 27b * 5% / 365 / 1440 ~= 2.5k
// corresponding stake ~= 27b / 365 / 1440 ~= 50k
// optimally each output stakes once every week so 50k * 52 = 2.6m
// but only a fraction of the total money supply is staked on the network
int64 nStakeCombineThreshold = 2000000 * COIN;

Is this still the problem?

isnt the blockchain stuck because of high difficulty?

just keep the large wallets offline and split balances into smaller parts, preferably creating more nodes in the process.

has this been attempted yet?

We really need the new wallet and Subcreative or someone from the dev team to talk with Bittrex.

aka - bury your head in the sand coin?

im not guessing, im stating facts!!

and asking if ANYBODY HERE has anything to add.

the glaring answer is derp.

bye felicia!!

I am also interested to know what the current status is Cannacoin community...

Community is good. Core members are still on IRC. We need some help with development, specifically, confirming SubCreative's changes via testnet. Once these changes are confirmed and wallet is updated, the blockchain will run as intended. I have 50k ccn for anyone who can help SubCreative confirm changes via testnet.

Sub-version       Protocol   Count   Network     Share
/Subtoshi:2.0.0.1/ 2000001         17   100.0 %   100.0 %

yeah blocks are pretty sparse these days, looks like only 7 since 445573 more than a week ago.
