This site has become very difficult to use. Between the poor/zero scrolling performance and those frustrating captchas, the whole thing is incredibly unattractive. Which is a shame, as it was at one point the best merchant acceptance map.

I use the site since it started and never seen a CAPTCHA? Where do you get it?

Every time I load the site. And the site uses Cloudflare (the devil's captchas, lol). It only started a couple of months ago

I'm having trouble dragging the map to navigate it. It didn't have this problem before.

Thanks.

Why would Coinmap list LTC and not say, Vaginacoin, or any other shitcoin?

Shitcoins are only slowing down cryptocurrency adoption, confusing noobs, and hurting the whole ecosystem.

Sound money doesn't need a clone.

And if you have some actual innovation to do, discuss it at #bitcoin-wizards. Contrary to the shitcoiners' narrative, Bitcoin devs are very open to new ideas (that's why they jumped into Bitcoin in the first place).

Thanks for removing litecoin. About time. I didn't want to promote or use your site in the past, but now I will!

Do you have your own thread, so we can discuss there?

I suppose now is a good time to reintroduce my old website: Kerny.com. The advantage is that Kerncy allows listings to show more than a single cryptocurrency that they accept: Bitcoin, Litecoin, Peercoin, and Dogecoin.

I haven't worked on it in a while and I actually took the site down for almost a year due to lack of interest. I'll bring it back online now if you guys are interested in updating the Litecoin listings.

P.S. I also offer the featured listing banner on the homepage up for free, so let me know if you guys want to feature your business!

Creator of Litecoin. Cryptocurrency enthusiast.
Did I really donate 3BTC to you? Can I have it back? Tongue

It's weird that you would remove Litecoin because you didn't get any donation in LTC. Have you considered that a lot of Litecoin users prefer to spend BTC in the past year because they feel like LTC has more upside?

Anyways, including Litecoin was only a few line changes. I'm quite disappointed that you would do this to make a statement. I guess I won't be using CoinMap anymore.

i like coinmap a lot.
of course there might be some black sheep but so far i am happy with it.
i think it's a great tool for businesses who just started accepting btc.
and it's fun if you are yourself one of the first in your city to mark spaces.

actually, i helped a friend listing his dutch waffleshop in kobe, japan and he got real walk-in customers because of that.
awesome! Smiley

As you've already noted, the site is generally rarely correct about who is accepting crypto and often has scams/spam listed.

I don't know what % of data is incorrect or scams/spams, but it is still pretty useful. I found a few local BTC accepting businesses, I didn't even know they existed until I found them on CoinMap.

I urge all interested in bitcoin and in coinmap to be more vigilant. I just removed Galts Gulch Chile, a fiasco and scam that was unveiled as such months ago. Also travelling to Mendoza I had to find out the hard way that places marked as accepting bitcoin were not accepting anymore or had no clue about bitcoin at all. Please, check your neighborhood, give such places a visit and *remove* them instantly if there is any problem accepting bitcoin. You may be supportive when it comes to resolve their issues and add them back later but if today you could not pay with bitcoin and you can't confirm that yesterday it worked, there is no value in having them on coinmap.

Is it possible to see some statistics? f.e. how many merchants accept bitcoins by country?

I see reference to permalinks in this thread but I can't seems to confirm if they are working? I'm trying to share a map of my local city with the community showing our available locations without them having to use geolocation. Is this feature available? How can I get a URL that shows the local city?
good question. i would like to know as well if that is possible to display a country or city by default.

I registered two places, they dont have the bitcoin sign
Good!

The bitcoin logo is a default icon; ideally it always should be replaced by a more specific one.

Ciao!
THANK YOU!!! Smiley
