someone asked me why the coino-qt.exe is 20MB now vs the older one being 8MB.

note that there are no extra files - this is because they are all included inside the single exe file now - means you are able to put the exe file anywhere and just run it.

Hi All.

We are currently checking that ALL current Coin(O) pools and Exchanges are running the latest Wallet.

If you have ANY coins on an exchange or a pool that is not running the latest Wallet then let us know here or on IRC http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#coinocoin. Your coins won't be lost, they just won't be showing up in your wallets. Once they upgrade all should be fine Smiley

Just drop by on IRC any time and we'll be happy to see you there.

If you have NOT updated your Coin(O) Wallet yet then you need to do so. This is a MANDATORY update.

The Mac and Windows wallets can be downloaded from www.coinocoin.com. You will also find a link to the new Git Repository that has the latest Source if you want to build your own Linux Wallets or Daemons.

If you are a Coin(O) Pool or an Exchange and are not running the latest code as of April 7th 2014 then you will need to get this source and build a new Wallet.

If your not already involved, it's probably a good time to do so. So come on over to IRC and ask what's going on or just see if there's something you can do to help out the community.

We have a great little community at the moment with some really enthusiastic members getting involved, but we would like to see more of you there Smiley

Happy mining...

I'm a Windows user - give me the highlights!!
Sure:
  • download: http://coinocoin.com/coino-qt.exe.zip
  • delete your existing coino-master folder where you had been running Coino from
  • backup existing wallet.dat by
    • going to %appdata%\Coino
    • (copy paste this into windows explorer address bar OR windows key + r OR start OR start > run)
    • copy wallet.dat; select file and then ctrl+c
    • and paste; ctrl+v
    • now you have a 2nd wallet.dat with a 2 in the name somewhere
  • extract coino-qt.exe from the zip you downloaded
  • double click coino-qt.exe
  • that's it, the wallet will sync and you'll be able to send and see your coins coming in again

Note: There is only a single file now so you are free to move coino-qt.exe to wherever is convenient for you.

Here are some pretty pictures to assist with getting the initial sync happening:

basically create a shortcut and put -addnode=128.199.247.183 on the end Smiley

The new Windows wallet has been released.

You can find a link to it on www.CoinoCoin.com, or you can link directly from here:
http://coinocoin.com/coino-qt.exe.zip

Please backup your wallet.dat file just in case.  There is no need to delete the blockchain.  You can simply use the update and you will re-sync to the network and have your coins.

You may find the initial sync to be slow.  If you are an advanced user, you can use this command:
addnode=70.38.54.10
addnode=128.199.247.183

If you don't understand that command, don't worry.  Your wallet will just take a few extra minutes to synchronize.

Special thanks to smcardle for the compilation - what a legend Wink

I am not sure I can contribute much from a technical perspective, but as a minimum I would very much like to contribute Coino's to the new "development" team as a thank you for keeping this going.

I sure would like to hear from the original developer, and what role he can continue to play/lead...
Hello,
Thank you for your well doing to Coino. If you want to help Coino develop hop on to the coino irc chat. The link is at Coino.org then click on chat and fill in the blank that you need to continue them just talk. Everyone is valued a Dev that helps the coin move forward. This can be from coding to talking to online shops to take coino as a currency.

Curious about the SSL issue that is in the news?

The stock compile instructions for Coino's wallet make use of OpenSSL 1.0.0g - which is not affected by the Heartbleed problem.  We have checked the recently released MAC wallet and can confirm that it does not contain the Heartbleed bug.

You should take precautions online with regard to the Heartbleed bug.  But, your Coino wallet does not need to be on your list of concerns if you followed the standard instructions or used a pre-compiled version.

We have checked all of our compiles and everything is using 1.0.0 versions and is thus NOT vulnerable to this exploit

The vulnerable versions are 1.0.1 through 1.0.1f inclusive

Hi,

i am into coino from the beginning. since then just lurking in this thread, but I think now it's time to participate somehow.

I am an it guy from germany. Networking, firewalls, linux server, hardware is my profession...

We need to get access to the domain coino.org to update the wallet there, otherwise there will be some version problems in the future. I will try to contact the dev by pm, perhabs he is willing to coorperate in a way.

One question regarding mining: Is it save to mine at a pool right now? Are there problems when try to payout the mined coins? I stopped mining, because I do not know if it is save right now.

BTW I need the windows wallet binarys Smiley

so let's make coino a success together, so far it seems to be one of the best crypto communitys!

When you have a chance, join us in the Coino IRC channel.  The community is having a discussion over the next few days to see where to go next.  And, we are looking for talent like yours.  You can be a great addition to the team.

Coino.org would be good - if you can find Jerome please talk to him.  He doesn't appear to login here anymore

Check is profile his logging in everyday and reading all of these.
