So why is everybody mining Yacoin now? And is it worth it?

it is new so diff. is low and it shows promise for the long term as it is designed to use lots of mem for mining so most gpu cant mine at a very high rate and crash it.

New?   Huh

for me anything you can solo mine is new  Tongue

Yacoin has been out a while but its new to us here. And the difficulty is still very low because its still relatively new to other people aswell. Dont forget that cryptomining alt coins didnt surge in popularity till a few months back

@bathrobehero

where can we discuss about the google docs you have created? Is there a thread for it? I am asking coz comments are often disabled and also used for submitting changes and nobody seems to be logged in to chat.

I have been using cudaminer successfully for past few weeks. Thanks to cbuchner. I am waiting for the scrypt-jane version so that i can finally have 1 of any coin.  Grin

does -H 1 not work in Jane yet? my cpu load is ~5%

I have to force this to -H 0 as the Kekkac code is neither parallelized, nor SSE2-optimized at the moment.

Made another spreadsheet/survey combo this time specifically for scrypt-jane, not sure if it will have any use considering how rapidly things are changing, but there you go:

Sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aj3vcsuY-JFNdERoRWIyOXp3bzg2TWdveWNudWxaVkE&usp=sharing#gid=0
Survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1a7un5pFsmeLoH7AVZJp6FRUS8e3ZrjninwIStWB_gDc/viewform

The most important thing I'd like to see over time is the performance difference between N factors.

Thanks for doing this again!  Wink

Switched over to Linux today, getting 4 kH/s on one of my 780s with T23x1. I can't use that config with the card I have connected to my monitor, though, runs out of VRAM. Dropped down to T17x1 on the other card and getting 7 kH/s combined, not bad Smiley

They were posted by another user so I am just using their figures. Nothing I have checked myself

It looks like if you ran "yacoin-qt getbalance" it should show your current balance. Havent tested it yet though

I'm not sure where you're getting your invalid rate.  The rates reported by the pool are accepted shares only

Yes but 2MH/s and 40% invalid rate drops it down to roughly 1.2MH/s of valids. Maybe a little more

That is if invalids count towards the overall hash rate. Which personally I dont think they should. As invalid shares dont count in a pool

Edit
One thing I have been wondering is if there is any way to get say a cron job to run that checks for new transactions in your wallet and emails you when you find a block. That would be very useful when im out and want to check how my miner is doing

Yep. If they have 40% overall invalids. Just Christian's rig if he can get it to 15khash/s would be over 1% of the global hash rate.

As the global rate would be about 1.2Mhash/s
Hell my rig is almost 0.5% of the global hash rate.
The cudaminer pool! One pool to rule them all! :-p

Edit: And oops, I did mean to put 47 not 27, my fault

Actually, the yac.coinmine.pl pool is 1.5 MH all by itself - That pool is reporting over 2 MH as the overall hashrate, which sounds abut right with the way the difficulty is growing.

I'm not sure how is that network hashrate calculated.

For example, the yacointalk pool has 0.19 Mhash/s, but they also have a 40% invalid rate (and they are not the only pool with extra high invalid rate), and so if that's 40% invalid is calculated into the network's hashrate, we might have an even bigger slice of the cake because we're not submitting invalids, like at all.

2.09Mhash/s then. Damn that is really low.
Especially with say 5 of us getting 20khash/s  almost 1% of the entire worlds hashing power :-p

Well I just got another block. Thats 7 blocks in 26 hours. Each block is only giving 27.12 coins each now though

What is the global hash rate for yacoin now? I never found a way to figure it out. I can see cudaminer being a big cut of it soon

Yacoin wallet debug getmininginfo:
Code:
"blocks" : 376094,
"currentblocksize" : 2418,
"currentblocktx" : 1,
"difficulty" : 0.02235230,
"errors" : "",
"generate" : false,
"genproclimit" : -1,
"hashespersec" : 0,
"networkhashps" : 2191001,
"pooledtx" : 0,
"testnet" : false,
"Nfactor" : 14,
"N" : 32768,
"powreward" : 47.10000000

Edit: I'm not sure how you're getting 27.12 coins, pools reporting around ~47/block.
