Just on a side note. While your classing it as a dud, which part wasn't work/getting too hot?

Well the first one did not work at all. Failed to deliver power so Corsair replaced it.

The second one always ran too hot to touch and I never saw the fan come on once. Not once. So I then put a small fan blowing cool air onto it. That kept it cool to touch. I am not a fan of the hybrid fan and I guess that I am sour because I am 0 for 2 with these things.

EDIT: But what really got me was this article that says that these things are junk because they are using inferior components and claim just the opposite. I wish I had seen the article before I ordered!

So with this being my second dud PSU from Corsair, I am writing them off.

What do you recommend that I get for a PSU? I want the 1000 Watts and I do not want the hybrid fan technology. It is junk for mining.

Right now I am using USB risers. Because my cards are 2 metres from my mb. No issues so far (been over 4 months)

The 6pin only supplies extra power. The mb is still providing the main power for the card. Adding it to a powered riser means no power comes from the mb so no risk of frying the mb

So I tried this again and looked at the MSI Afterburner reading for GPU 2. It did not matter which two GPUs I had nor which slot I had them in. The 2nd GPU reported power of >63,000% (yep you read that correct) Looking at the back of the PSU there are two connector holes on the 24-pin connection where the black plastic surrounding the holes is slightly melted. I needed a light and magnifying glass to see it. Right now I do not know if it is a symptom or a cause and the only way is to take out the PSU from my other computer and test it. Problem with that is that it is not modular so will be a pain in the ass to disconnect. Also I am worried I may fry it if the PSU is not the problem.

I may just wait until next week and go buy a new PSU locally. That way if it fries I can exchange it/get refunded quickly.

This pisses me off. It could have caused a fire.

EDIT: The damn metal on the pins both male and female ends is obliterated FFS! Damn what happened?

EDIT 2: At least it did not fry on the motherboard end. I am thinking that the PSU failed me.

The mobo pulled too much, good thing it didn't fry. Use powered risers imo.

Please explain why. The mobo is supposed to handle this and with psi cables powering the GPUs how will an extra wire from the slots to the GPUs make a difference? I'm learning here.

@coinits  You should try to hook up a differnt psu. Simple thing to do and you don't need a big one, just enough to run 2 cards to verify if its the psu or not. 450-500w should do it.

What kind of risers are you using?

Are your cards ones that are mb power only?
If so that might be the issue. Too much power on the mb

If this works add a 3rd, etc.

But would be curious to know what happens with only 2 cards physically present in the computer.

It crashes the computer after about 3 seconds of mining. I am going to rob the computer that I am typing on of its PSU and try that and see if it eliminates the problem. It is a 750. The Corsair 1000 in my rig was DOA when I got it so I had it replaced and it worked but now I am going to try and see if it went kaput. I am not a fan of this hybrid fab technology in these new Corsair PSUs. I regret ordering it.

Hi,
I'm currently developing the Windows GUI application Awesome Miner, that manages and monitor mining and includes many powerful features like multiple multi-pool profit switching, scripting and notifications.

I'm getting requests to support the nVidia miners as well, like ccMiner. As far as I can see, there is no API provided by ccMiner, which makes it much more complex to get decent statistics from the miner. Are there any other good practices how to extract mining information from ccMiner? Parsing command line output? Write output to log file? From what I could see in the Readme file, there is no way to write the output to a log file, without fully redirecting all output leaving the screen blank.

If there is a good source where I can find this kind of information, please let me know. Many thanks!

Do you have another MB handy? Or another computer handy?

I have another computer with two GPU slots in it. I will try all of these scenarios to try and eliminate the cards as the culprit. Right now nothing makes sense.

Any word on BBR/GPU Windows compilation?

I read that there is some difficulties compiling vs linux.......I'm sure donations would be in order were it possible.
