Hi,

If it helps :
- 6x MSI GTX750ti is 420watts at the wall
- never seen my PSUs fan turning... (Corsair 750gold)
So even with 6 cards I have a LOT extrapower in reserve.

BTW here to ask for something about Cudaminer & Vertcoin.

Has anyone succeded to use CBUCHNER1 stock cudaminer (taken from Github last version) to mine VRT ?

I've seen that a custom cudaminer is available on vertcoins site.
-> tryed this and it gives me 95khs when I get 290khs for any scrypt alt (so i should get about 140, and 100 instead of 140 is a big loss). -l T5x24 & some other confs give the same result.

2/
Tryed lot of conf with official cudaminer release (x86 & x64) and it seems not to work, best result was 20khs.

Missed something ?
edit : note that rig is stable, no OC or heat or power issue

thanks for replying so to be safe I must buy a 1000W PSU for a 5 card system as minimum. I wanted LINK enabled PSU for monitering as there is no hardware for 240 volts for power usage monitering.

I am not sure what the 800 series would pull, but I have a 650 for what will be 6x 750 ti and I almost feel like it is overkill. I don't think I will break 450W with all 6 cards even on scrypt.

But my feeling is always that $20-$40 more to have much more flexibility in the future is never a bad thing.

Also I don't know if you are planning on buying an existing 780 card, or are talking about waiting for the mythical next Maxwell card for those last two slots.

 

I am talking about the high end maxwell cards which might be released during festive season. A preview of 880 says it will use 250W. so 500W on top of 3 750ti. It might be around 800W which is on the edge for 860W although its platinum.

You can get power meters. You dont need a 1000w its more for the additional cables so you have less cards looped together. If you get the corsair RM1000 it comes with something similar to link, where it states 12v current

I have 4x 750 ti running on Win7 x64. All of them OC'd and running modded BIOS at 65 TDP. Total power draw at the wall mining GroestlCoin is 180W. On scrypt coins I just did some testing but total draw was about 350W.

I think you should be good so long at the 800 series cards are not puling 300W each.

I have the MSI 750 ti OC cards (not the TF Gaming. Single fan, no 6-pin plug) and they are pulling 3225KHash/s each on Groestl (12,900 total), and right at 280KHash/s on Scrypt (1,110KHash/s total).

I have two of the MSI TF Gaming cards coming early next week, so will be able to make some more direct comparisons with my own hardware then, but the 6-pin or powered riser debate is pretty endless.

I use the USB 3.0 powered risers (1x -> 16x) and have had no problems at all with the hardware or windows.

I would say my first observation from reading what everyone else has said and with my own experience is that buying the 'OC' cards is pretty pointless. They charge about $10 more for a few cards 'factory overclocked', but you will be OC'ing them yourself anyways, so I feel like I tossed $40 out the window on that.

hi guys I have been left behind on all the latest development with my 660ti. So I have decided to build my first mining rig and I need your help with that. Thanks in advance. I have decided on following config

CPU i5 4670 (for getting in early on CPU only coins till cudaminer supports them)
RAM 8GB (As I use windows)
GPUs 3x 750ti (please suggest best brand)

So how is Gröstl different from Scrypt -N since that's ASICS resistant as well?

none of the SHA-3 competition algorithms is ASIC or GPU resistant... (by the way, Keccak won this contest)

The chaining of 6 or 11 algos like in Quark or X11 only reduces the effectiveness of ASIC (but also that of GPUs).
You need much more die space in ASICs and also much more computation time on GPUs. Still ASICs would outperform GPUs
in terms of power efficiency and hash rate, much like ASICs currently outperform GPUs for SHA256 hashing.

After a lengthy trial and error attempting to improve the HVC hashrate of ccminer, I have concluded that the default configuration is optimal. Despite an increased hashrate and number of shares attempted, over a sufficiently long sample time the increase in device errors proved to be less successful than the default configuration.

Here are the results of running 24 hours, both a customized config and the stock one:

I did have a look through it but i couldnt find a way. I would like to implement it into ccminer so it displays your temps aswell but i need to read it a lot more first, especially as i need to be able to specify a device to check

the hash function is important because it is part of Quark and X11 - and it appears that in particular X11 will play a major role in the future (when ASICs have ruined scrypt for GPU miners)

This might all be old news so any way you could maybe just point me to a previous post that explains all this so I don't keep asking dumb questions? I also have no idea what Quark and X11 is so I will have to read up on that as well. I feel so behind lol. Also I am running Windows, is this stuff linux only or windows as well?
