I was wondering about the increase in TDP on the 750 ti cards.

I raised the numbers in bios to 65W, but the only think I see changing is the percentage of max (which is now lower), but I don't think it is pulling any more power in reality.

Is this normal for what others are seeing? or did I miss something in the setup?

Perfcap reason is always reporting 'limit by operating voltage'.

Thanks for any help or comparisons.

Nomad, I did the exact same thing and have also been wondering. I'd be curious to hear what others have to say.

imho:
when you are mining stictly GPU algo (like keccak, heavy, fugue) which you do based on the memory controller load on your picture, you will not see any additional boost as you are not limited by TDP.
but if you try to mine memory loaded algo (like scrypt) you should see some boost with higher TDP.

Using ccminer35 I keep getting "ccminer35.exe error please close program"

It has happened about 5 times now and always on the same miner. One of my 750ti's.

Running Windows 7 64bit.

That's happened to me as well across my 9x nvidia 750 rigs.  Completely random across different mobo/cpu/riser combos.  I cannot reproduce it.  The older versions of ccminer didnt have this issue.

I've also been getting this all day and had to knock down my overclock a ton on my x6 rig to get it stable.  At least I think it is, it has been up for 4-5hrs now without crashing which is a lot longer than before.

I just changed my gtx670 overclock from +85 core and +385 mem to 20 core and 300 mem in hopes of stopping that from freezing my main system which also has 2 non-ti 750s in it. That and my 4x750ti rig were the ones crashing regularly but just 30min ago my x3 system went down.  Just dropped the clocks way down on that one as well.

For 750s it seems if I have them over +400 on memory they eventually crash.

On a side note just ordered these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PCI-E-Powered-Riser-Card-60cm-24-USB-3-0-Cable-6-pack-/171259847074 and plan on getting 3 more 750ti's to run a total of 5 for 1 rig.

How much does gtx 670 or 680 do with new version? Ty

660ti does about 11-12mhash and i believe the 670 does roughly the same, not sure about the 680

I get only 1/2 that with my 660ti. What are you doing to get that much per card?

Yah, gigabite 660ti, don't think i modded bios, but may have.

This is mining HVC with new CCminer0.5.  Afterburner settings +150 core, +50 mem

What flavor of CC0.5?

660ti gotta use compute 3.0, and im using x86 with 64 bit windows 7

Anyone know if i need to do anything before compiling in Fedora?

how much power use the 750ti with a 6/8pin compared to those powered by the mb ?

if it is in a case avoid the card with several fans (twin-frozr etc...), they are just blowing hot air (warm in the case of the 750ti) all over the case.
You don't necessarly needs OC versions of the card as you can do (and will do) a mod bios.
Personnally I would go with the reference cards... (assuming it doesn't melt the motherboard... might be a lot for the mb 50x4 + cpu ?)

Please explain what you mean by reference card. That is over my head!

Thanks
the reference card is the card as designed by nvidia. The main card builder (MSI, Gybabyte etc...) will in general produce cards following the original nvidia design as well as custom card (with different cooling system, overclocked and so on)

I am going to attempt to build a nvidia rig. Not really sure what I am doing but for starters which one of these would you choose?

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007708&IsNodeId=1&Description=gtx%20750%202gb&name=Desktop%20Graphics%20Cards&Order=BESTMATCH&isdeptsrh=1

I will be ordering 4 of them. What motherboard, processor, RAM (type and qty), and power supply would you recommend?  Oh an do I need risers for this?

I have decided I want to put it in a case.

Thanks

If you are doing a case build, the gigabyte z87x-OC motherboard has 4 full pcie slots, with an extra pice-4pin power in the motherboard for added stability.  Been rocking it a month and no problems so far.

And if you care i got
Case: Corsair 400R filled with fans
Ram:  Forgot but it was some patriot 1600 8gb stick (single stick, because i had it so not running dual channel)
CPU:  Intel G3420
PSU:  Corsair RM850 (overkill but whatever got a good deal)

I got 4x MSI 750ti (non TF edition) which got a little better mhash than the Asus i tried, although the asus was powered... weird eehh

5 x eVGA 750Ti SC non overclocked = 61MH

but I'm unsure how to explicitly compile it for sm_35 and 128 regcount this time (due to the new Makefile.am). Everytime I get invalid calculations for the shares. But I think compiling with standard settings is a bit slower on groestlcoin atm. Any advice?

on compute 3.0 and above we're using a block size of 768 which cannot work with more than 80 regs per thread.
it's the reason the 750Ti jumped from 9 MHash to 11 MHash... just like that Wink

ah, thanks for clarification. just two more questions:

1. under linux, after compiling all compute settings are within one executable? how can I make sure, that sm_35 is used?
2. is there a possibility to change regcount for a specific algo (in my case groestl) while having it untouched for all the others?

unser Linux it uses the compute setting matching your card best.

add a file specific rule to Makefile.am vor groestlcoin kernel. Nur IMHO you should try upping the groestl Thread block size to 768 first...

hmm..is that the value in cuda_groestlcoin.cu:

const int threadsperblock = 512;

? or do i need to change it somewhere else?

HVC is not a good example, as the gpu did the same for cpu mining on this coin.
From this point of view, I prefer groestl (which keeps a large advance to botnet...) which is more fair (but obviously as a gpu user...),
