AMD miners have a massive advantage over CPU miners now, but none of these folks will get as many coins as I just collected over night (well unless their farms are massive and they let it run for quite a while)

By the way at 4 AM in the morning (CET) I had just finished the code and got my rigs up and running and I desperately wanted to get some sleep. At 7 AM I had to get up to get my son to daycare and afterwards I went to work. Now tell me when exactly you would have wanted me to release this Wink

I think Christian might be saying that his cuda version kicks some serious ass Cheesy

I can tell you the ati/sgminer blows for older cards. Even as high as 7950s don't seem to be very impressive. the older 5000 and 6000 series are low 20s at best.

Heavycoin could have been released earlier, but even with the first mover advantage I (presumably) had over the course of several days my profits were small: 0.5 BTC overall. So not worth it.

You can apply over/underclock during mining.
You would likely need to use a monitor to get everything running, but for management you can use something like TightVNC and connect into your computer. It might be a little slow trying to move your mouse around and control things, but as long as the computer hasn't crashed it'll work just fine.

You can apply over/underclock during mining.

I am not saying that he should not release until donation target is hit. He always releases when a version is ready but this will make donations official and I am sure this will increase the donations.

nope , this will only make people to replace with AMD video cards and use free OpenCL software.
4 years ago when BTC cost $1 had one paid CUDA miner , against him there were 4 free OpenCL miner with much much high speed.This not working.

hey all I posted this suggestion a few days back and I think this most transparent way for Christian and the community to keep track of everything

Maybe christian can set a target donation and announce a BTC address. If target is reached he can release the next version. He can also set may be max/min donation amount so that everyone can give only fair share of the whole amount. This can be done through something like https://moolah.io
Anyone can see donation amount on the blockchain. I am sure making this official will bring in lots of donations. For special releases people can pledge a % of what they make to Christian which they do even now I guess.

This will also give more exposure to christian and cudaminer.

It turns out not to be a good idea for this case because when the miner is restarted it has a good chance (like 2 in 3 times) to have the error right in the start. So auto-restarting it every hour when the miner still runs fine means getting into trouble in 2/3 certainty every hour.

I wonder if putting in a delay before re-launching might help. It may be that the restart being so fast causes things to "get stuck" in memory, causing errant data to be introduced into the new instance. It may also cause havoc with the clocks.
