You realize you're talking about ypool, right?

yes, and Ypool miner only works with Ypool Tongue
and they have their own coins too... (or very close too..) which sounds pretty far away from any ideal behind crypto...

My point is the miner has to customized for each coin. that is a lot of work. So, anytime a coin is added. a new version has to be made. as I said..easier to make a mining pool with a fee.
I will tell you my crypto weekend: I did several laucnh: 10-5; Hirocoin, Shacoin, europacoin, rhinohorn
Good luck keeping up with that... (and most of it in solo... of course not all with nvidia, but it just to say).

Actually this could be done with some special new coin known to be profitable where an address could be hardcoded, but again we miss the launch (which is mainly the only time it is profitable for small miner) because the wallet are released at the time of the launch but that would also require to rewrite everything such it is not opensource (have no idea what it means... like if you can verify when you only give the binary  Grin)

Honestly he should make a bootable linux version. With auto donate similar to peonminer, and smos.

i cant get cudaminer to start with these flags

 -H 2 -i 0 -l K7x32, T10x24 -d 0, 1

just auto crashes

Too many spaces in that launch command?
Should be instead:

 -H 2 -i 0 -l K7x32,T10x24 -d 0,1

You don't even need to care for -d 0,1, unless you have a 3rd, or 4th devices that you want to explicitly stay clear from cudaminer.
Cheers,

will try this, and yes once my 750tis come in i want to stay clear of my main gpu that ill be using for gaming

ah thanks it worked

What about Christian sets up a wallet on a machine, and hard codes an ip and login details to the wallet. That way he can switch to any given coin. He would just need something to tell cud a miner which launch configuration to use for say 5 minutes every few hours. I'm sure that won't be too hard

doesn't sound very practical on coin launch... nor for solo mining... (put that way, you can't even choose what to mine...)

Good point! Haven't thought about that... was just thinking about a way to get Christian the tribute he deserves. The voluntary donation approach doesn't really work I suppose, but most of us here would gladly contribute to his great work. That's why I thought built-in fees would make all of us happy...

You can't really force people to donate, they will always find a way around that.  The best thing to do would probably be a donation flag in the miner, hard-coded pool and user credentials.  Then the miner could mine x rounds over y time.
He said he got a whole bitcoin last week or something like that, so the voluntary thing works well I believe. Tongue

It would be to much work. Since xptminer tends to be for a specific coin, and can only be used for their site. He have to make a new version of every coin someone wants to mine. He'd have an easier time setting up his own altcoin pool and charging a fee

Well there are 2 ways - either you hardcode the pool, or you hardcode the fee address. A hardcoded fee address going to cbuchner1 would of course mean that he needs to have his own specific address for each new coin... well but that's doable, isn't it?

Learn to program in CUDA if you want it that bad.  Christian doesn't owe us anything, if anything we owe him.

0.4 BTC is all I made off HVC so far - and that was before everyone else jumped onto HVC with their AMD cards.
So even with this first mover advantage this was NOT a maxcoin event.

It's just not barely worth it anymore. Today the payouts have gone down by factor 4 due to all the AMD miners coming aboard.

We're working on something better now.

Christian

Christian, for great future times to come: Have you ever thought about making new Cudaminer releases fee-based? Seems to work fine for all those miners at ypool.net - nobody has a problem with built-in x% fee for you (as long as x <= 5 I guess), and you would probably benefit much more than mining on your own. If a few hundred people use their miners, and you get, say 4% of what they dig, summed up it should be some nice profit for you! And you don't even have to waste your own power, instead you can concentrate on the next big thing ;-)

What do you think about that?

Greetings from Nuernberg!

MAX was only as big as it was because Fiat sucked at the same time Bitcoin tanked (Mt. Gox to thank... sorta) combined with a badly pre-positioned difficulty... you just need to line all these up and make a profit.

Funny to think that you need to tank BTC as a whole to make a profit on BTC... wait...

On a purely intellectual level I applaud the work you've done with this!

Just a suggestion, a cuda miner with X11 algo support would also be a great feature...
