People in this space tend to be secure and passionate about their investments.
I'm not worried about anybody getting their hopes up and being let down needlessly.

If the worst thing that happens is we have a functional network with working technology and it lasts longer than we do - Datacoin becomes a time capsule for the ages and a win.

I am very excited because of the way Chicago has started to organise the developers.  The Github organisation makes it possible for developers to come and go, while the coin soldiers on.  It also provides a space separate from the forum where the Datacoin developers can discuss and plan the arcane details of the Datacoin code.  Take a look, for e.g., at the Issues page of the Bitcoin Github organisation.  You see highly focused discussions of the Bitcoin code, software bugs and version details.  This is what is going to happen with Datacoin.  The quality of the development process has been enhanced, and the acquisition and management of developers has been streamlined.  That is part of what I mean by a "top" coin.

For me 3 things drive the quality of  a coin - the developers, the fintech and the marketing.  But the core is the developers and the development process.

Talking about a time capsule - at the current rate of issuance it will take 400 years for all Datacoins to be issued.  If we get more miners and the block reward goes down that could stretch to 1000 years.  Quite a time capsule  Cheesy

Yeah, it's the best attitude.

And yeah, I can be sometimes cynical, but I have seen in 2017, too much to be honest with you, against any logic.

Yep, because I'm the biggest FUDder, I want to buy your coin below 100sats, c'mon guys have a reality check.

Or it was just joking, if yes I didn't get it  Grin.

I like it, I really do. Just I tell the truth - big valuation needs - big exchanges, or big shilling community, or whales who wants to push price skyhigh (or all of them).

You can do fairly well (I mean 1000 sats is possible in future, maybe), just don't have big hopes for Top 100, and you will do alright Wink.

Everybody has dreams, I also have, it may add courage, just don't make people false hopes.

Sorry, to say it won't.
Unless you have some pumpers to pump it straight to the top, it's not possible, today's cryptocurrency world is based only on hype and pumpers, who pump only these were they have a big stake in it.

-- sounds like FUD to drive the price down so you can buy a big bag of DTC for less than 100 satoshi.

Bless you Chicago.  We now have a proper professional organization where the coin is able to drive its own development.

With three custodians of the code we ensure that the coin cannot die again if a developer falls away.  The same will be done with the Twitter account, the OP and a website.

The Next listing marks a distinct milestone in the development of Datacoin.  The struggles of yesterday are giving away to a new phase where we can focus on development and utility.

It is clear that the smart contract framework for Datacoin will occur in Apertus.io, including the Hyperledger integration.  The combination will be dynamite.

I look forward to Datacoin taking up its rightful position in the top 20 cryptocurrencies.  Perhaps even in the top 10.

Thank you.

Hello Team Datacoin!

This morning, I updated the Official Datacoin GitHub Account and have added quite a bit of work into it from 2014 - 2017.

The effort was a bit labor intensive, to compare and merge work from disparate repositories contributing to Datacoin over the years - but nothing too serious.

What we have now is a singular GitHub organization with all of the Datacoin related projects located there.

I have sent invites to extro24 and gjhiggins to be owners of the GitHub Datacoin Organization.

----------

Rather than giving you a table of contents today, I ask you to go look for yourselves at what has been contributed over the years.
There are a few things there I forgot about and others I never knew existed.

----------

Moving forward, we'll want to do something like the following -- when you fork and commit changes to a Datacoin repository, send a pull request.
After the PR is reviewed and tested, it will be merged.

I'm looking forward to sharing repository write access with contributors who will review and test future pull requests.

Best Regards,
-Chicago

Also is it still worthwhile to solo mine with a single GPU or should I be looking to join a pool?

Hi panchandaman,

I'd say you'd still have some luck getting a few blocks.

After the stressful events around the Next listing I had to take stock again about where we have to go now.

My instincts tell me we must now pay HEAVY attention to Kucoin and Bittrex.  Beg, borrow, steal and lobby as hard as we can.  The Next listing should make them pay attention.
Another thing I want to pay attention to is getting Hyperledger smart contracts to run on the Datacoin blockchain.  There I think Apertus.io is central, as our "virtual machine".
We have created the datacoinproject account on Github and that will naturally lead to the development of Datacoin 0.9 and Datacoin 0.10.
We need a market for our Bytestamp digital assets.  If the FreiExchange does not help, we need to investigate Apertus.io (again).
I found the owner of datacoin.io and the datacoin account on Github.  It is @Vervious (Benjamin Chan), a student at MIT.  I will try (again) to buy the domain, but I have little hope.
There is a Datacoin channel on Telegram.  Not sure who created it, but I am using it.
We can now apply to Shapeshift, which would give us access to the Open Bazaar.  I think we are close to reactivating the ranking on CoinMarketCap, which became possible with the active API on the FreiExchange.
We need an Android wallet in the Google Play store, which we are working on.
Apertus.io have already prepared various social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat lookalikes, but to deploy them we have to get to Datacoin 0.10.0.

I am aware of rumblings of another mining pool, but we shall see.

I think the best way to do a miners guide would be with a datacoin wiki.

Cheers

Hi,

Above are stats from 6x 1060 3GB rig, and 10.1 miner.
Sharing it for you to know what to expect ;-)

This is great data MarcusDe!

Would you mind sharing with us a step by step guide on how you got your NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 mining?

. . .
Mining links are clearly outdated - Took a while to figure out how to set up solo mining with the right client and setting parameters for newer cards (default values were aimed at the 900 series, thats 2014) - we can fix that.
-Zeno

Hi Zeno,

We are consolidating our mining guides.
We'd love it if you could give us your current step-by-step method to solo mine - you'll get full credit.
Also, if you have tips on newer cards, please include them - along with CPD Smiley
Thank you for your help!

I guess, because its also a problem i have, that the issue could be the INTEL GPU which is platform 0, miner tries to use that instead of discrete card and fails, any opinion?

Yea, sometimes switching to platform 1 solves the issue, forcing it to use the GPU instead of onboard.
What miner are you using?
