I understand, this is risk for you, but I can enable trade for you if you have at least 10k emd on account. Less have no sense. So your risk is small, 10k emd not too many.
Even all goes wrong, you risk only 10k emd (about 0,015 btc now), this is small price for action and education.

Some time ago I compiled wallet for emd, but some guys take control of the coin.
So I can compile new version without any crazy changes, that was anounced by abandoned developers.

I've been neck deep in code, when time allows and am nearing completion of an updated client. I still have some numbers to crunch and get the source updated at Github, but we should have a new wallet out in the next couple of weeks. This new wallet will switch from the Berkley database to a flat database as in the newer Bitcoin clients (since 8.x).

There will also be a small fork that will change the distribution rate of EMD to miners. The normal halving (2.5 EMD/block) will still occur at block 3110400, then approximately six months later will reduce to 1 EMD per block and six months after that to 0.5 EMD per block. This will be a mandatory update.

Switching database types can be a bit tricky when upgrading, so we will have special instructions at that time on how to do the upgrade. Many other cryptocoins have made the switch-over in the past year, so some of you may already be familiar with how this works. I will be testing the wallet before it is released to ensure that things go smoothly.  

Hopefully I will have the road map PDF ready to go around that time, too. Then shortly after that (it will be laid out in the PDF) we will be starting the EMZ project. I am already working on the code for this, as well, when time permits.

Hey everyone! I've been out of pocket for a bit trying to get a new office squared away. Sorry for the absence. With that being said... Here are a few things that have transpired since my last update. EMD is now two years old!!! Evidently not too many people check the website because there was a post there in the news section about the milestone. You can read it here: http://www.emeraldcrypto.org/emd-is-two-years-old/

We are approximately 3 months from the subsidy halving (block 3110400). Because of the old difficulty schedule (pre-fork) what should have happened in the middle of June will now happen sometime near the middle of October. Since the fork, we are pretty close to schedule for blocks solved, which was the initial goal of forking the coin. Some of you have said that you had an issue with the wallet freezing. I have wallets on four different computers and have not experienced any issues. If you encounter a problem where you think your wallet is freezing, check one of the two explorers we have to see where their count is at...

I am still working on an update to bring the wallet to a more modern client base. This isn't just a copy and paste scenario... Many things have changed in the crypto-client world since EMD was first released. Upgrading to a modern client requires going through every line of code and making sure that everything is in its proper place. Thousands upon thousands of lines of code...   If there are any of you who have experience and would like to help, I could use it as my time is really stretched thin at the moment and it is taking me much longer than I originally anticipated.

At some point, we will need some permanent nodes, which will be hard-coded in the new client. This will make start times quicker and syncing much easier and more reliable. We can pay for this service, but we will need to raise some funds. It would also be nice if we could pay for hosting and domain name renewals from development funds, instead of out of my pocket this year...  

I am working on a project that should help us raise some funds for development and also create more exposure for EMD. This also was sidetracked by my office move, but is something that is near completion and will be announced in the next couple of weeks. It is a win-win for the users of the service (they earn BTC) and for EMD as it creates exposure for us and we also earn BTC by hosting it. By exposing new users to Emerald some of them will take the BTC they earn and buy EMD. So, I guess that would make it a win-win-win.   More on that coming soon...

The last bit of news is about EMZ. The programming end is pretty much done, right now, but... We really need a better client for EMD before this is released. It is the major project that I have been working on since last September.

There are other projects that I am working on. All of these take time and will take funds to implement. I will try to get a road map set up in a PDF file that you can download. I will also post the info in the OP and on the EMD website. If you have any thoughts, don't hesitate to send me a PM, post a comment on the website or in the thread.
