See why I keep saying that 25M ESP for a masternode is not enough?
At this point, $83.000 of ESP would be 1.9 BILLION. Per masternode. Of course this is not comparable, but you get the point. It doesn't have to be "affordable" for the average Joe.You have to look the price Dash was when they implemented masternodes, was it 1-2$ late 2014 - early 2015 ?
If i am not mistaken it was 1000 Dash from the beginning making the cost to buy a masternode 1000-2000$.
With 25 mil per masternode and the current supply thats just a mere 800 masternodes and all the circulating supply will be locked so that number will be much lower in reality, while Dash is counting 4522 nodes.
Isn't the point to decentralize things or not ?

A masternode can support the network with a nodelist, mixing, supply quick download of the blockchain. DASH allows you to vote for improvements. Depends on the masternode.
I would setup one for ESP, no care of a possible income.
Coins with masternode prove that people have still interrest in the coin. An important point which makes masternode coins often more valuable than others. A masternode owner proves
that he is taking care of a part of the network with bandwith / electricity / hardware / updates / his time. Holding and not willing to dump the coin = value.
Best example is DASH, for DASH you need 1000 coins = 83.000 US$. With this, a masternode owner proves he is seeing a good future not worth selling it right now for 83.000 US$. Thats a coin you can trust
at that moment. Remember, fiat money is nothing else, just a peace of tamper proof paper with a promise of value on it.

I think the 25 million masternode is a high hurdle to jump. I thinking in the case in which an investor may want to change their current investment position by selling half or all of their shares, thus causing the price to tumble. It may or may not cause a panic for all, but for a small few, it could, then what?
Hi, welcome to this forum! Experience has shown that when masternodes are introduced, the price will usually jump high because many people try to buy as many coins as possible in order to qualify for the masternode amount. If the required amount is very high, smaller investors will hold and wait for the price to rise, and big investors will invest big in order to get a masternode. So at the end, everyone profits although there can be some danger of a price bubble building up.
On the other hand, if the price is low, then many people will already be able to afford a masternode, thus there is no need for them to buy any further coins. Also this defeats the idea of having masternodes with special rights to secure the network, if the average Eve can run such a node.
Also, if you learn to think in quantities that are normal in this field of cryptocurrencies, 25 Million at the current price would be roughly $1500 USD which is less than 1 BTC. That is an extremely low price actually.

is this worth cpu mining? anyone know the hashes and maybe some pools
I7 gets like 80-90 hash.Gets you about 1k esp a day.
Running a 1050 nvidia on it, its like 1.7 mhs
