According to the roadmap we will get "Improve cryptography on EVM (for zero knowledge proof, homomorphic encryption, etc)" in 2018.

If i have understood correctly the etc block reward will decrease quickly resulting in the network not remaining secure, no i do not transaction fees will help much and the whole idea of using transactions fees to secure the network is actually pretty stupid.

I guess the reason ETH is willing is the cult-like phenomina with Vitalik Buterin and the etherium foundation, the tech itself is not really that impressive of useful imo.
