Given the current high fees, I wonder if Ethereum has any solution planned to reduce Gas fees in the future? Will PoS solve the problem or at least contain it? With every hype, we can observe that there are enormous increases in gas prices. Very annoying when you interact with the network regularly.
Berlin Network Upgrade Specification
https://github.com/ethereum/eth1.0-specs/blob/master/network-upgrades/berlin.md
Berlin's hard fork will not solve these problems.
Phase 1 Ethereum 2.0 won't solve these problems either.
Some users may prefer to run Ethereum transactions on the Ethereum 2.0 network after Phase 1, but all smart contracts will also work on the Ethereum 1.0 network.

That means there is currently no implementation planned that will improve the fee problem in any way? Is there at least a long-term plan for this or is the network designed in such a way that it won't work any other way?
The most famous working alternative is Level 2 solutions. For example - ZKSwap.

🤔

Ethereum Improvement Proposal 1559 (July 2021)

"This is the most important upgrade for the Ethereum network and the completely new Ethereum 2.0 will also benefit from it. The proposal is primarily intended to regulate the high transaction fees that have been a problem for the network for some time. With EIP-1559 comes a new mechanism that regulates the current auction processes and thus also the fees. The desired result is a dynamic fee adjustment, whereby users always pay the lowest price per block."
EIP-1559 does not solve the problem of fees.
EIP-1559 will activate BASEFEE - the minimum network fee, but will enable participants to pay more so that the transaction is guaranteed to be added to the nearest block.
Part of the commissions will be burned, this will provide additional protection against DOS attacks on the network. Therefore, even if you own the largest pool, transactions will also be paid for you.
EIP-1559 will probably have a positive impact, but will not reduce the price of current transactions.

Why do you say it is not the time of ETH? It is has reached $2000 and has a big future ahead of it. Investors will be very happy with it.

Unfortunatelly, it's not a time of ETH. Now is time of BNB, DOT... I think they are growing he same way, like ETH growed in 2017. But, anyway, it doesn't mean that price of ETH will not incrase in near future.

ETH now has another competitor due to insane gas price which becoming really hard for everyone. People are moving towards alternative but demand for big players growing very fast and this is pushing towards the new level. I think other blockchains will give though time in coming days.
What kind of competitor are you talking about? Binance Smart Chain or Huobi Eco Chain?
The main problem with these competitors is that they offer to use their ecosystems, which are a fork of Ethereum. We are told that this is DeFi, but there is no decentralization in these projects, because these are centralized blockchains.

Polkadot and Cardano, according to their fan bases. Cosmos coming back around as well.
Cardano will launch smart contract features in an upcoming update.
The polcadot has over 300 projects pending launch on the mainnet. But there are no more than 100 places in total.
Polcadot network can serve no more than 100 parachains; with their further increase, performance problems in the mainnet will begin.
More than 3000 projects are working on the Ethereum network.

The biggest competitor to ETH now is called SOLANA SOL.
Ive been in ETH from the start (check back in this thread to see)
and i can seriously say SOL has the best Blockchain tech in crypto today.

Look into and you will see yourself.

Solana is the most well thought through blockchain platform in the entire space. The others rushed to fill a gap by throwing together concepts hoping they stick. Solana devs went to the root of the problem, started from first principles and revisited old research on concurrency.

1/13 Today, Circle rolled out full production support for USDC on the Solana blockchain for all of our customers.
Things brings USDC to a  fast moving ecosystem  attracting innovations in DeFi and consumer apps.

Now live: Full
@Solana
blockchain support across all Circle products. Solana is powerful, with 50K tps and block production and settlement finality w/ in 400 ms.

5/13 More importantly, with Circle APIs, developers and businesses can take card, wire and ACH payments that settle in USDC, and swap, send and receive with Solana USDC; the inverse (redeem and catch out via wire, ACH, etc) is also true

SecretSwap is LIVE on Mainnet!
Secret DeFi is here. Now you can trade secret tokens with front-running resistance, improved privacy protections, and low cost. Start using SecretSwap now!

Secret tokens are fungible tokens native to Secret Network that are private by default,
they can represent any native or off-chain asset including Ethereum assets, thanks to our Secret Ethereum Bridge
On Secret Network, all users benefit from privacy network effects - the more usage there is of Secret Apps, the more security users gain.

SecretSwap allows users to trade any secret token for any other. It works like Uniswap or SushiSwap, but with lower costs and higher user security.

https://scrt.network/blog/secretswap-is-live-on-mainnet

the advantage of SecretSwap lies in secret contracts and the SNIP-20 token standard.

Secret contracts allow encrypted data to be used without revealing it on a public blockchain, or even to nodes themselves.

“We have $50 million in Ethereum assets already locked as secret tokens on our network,”

Unfortunately, I cannot determine whether this transaction has been deleted from the mempool or some of the nodes will add it to the mempool in the near future.
My opinion is that the software of the exchange is to blame, as it cannot correctly calculate the transaction fee

I would definitely not trade on this exchange

Ok there is the new reply to my tickets

Hello. Seems, you don't see and follow our media channels and don't see our warning regarding ERC20 (ETH and ETH type) transactions and their long processing period: https://twitter.com/graviex_net/status/1359607411447898121 There are no errors in your transaction, it’s pending to get processed and confirmed ( https://etherscan.io/txsPending). Sometimes ETH network is slowly processing transactions due to high load of the pool. Due to the high load in the pool, not all transactions are indexed at once, this has happened before in the ETH network. The Explorer only displays some of the transactions from the pool (usually about 10000 first entries). Now the load is much higher than this value, so the transaction may not be visible for some time. Graviex support team.
