I am surprised that there are not more people talking about this syncing problem. Are there people not having a problem syncing. I have been at it 2 days now and the wallet is still not caught up.
Is there a fix for the Ddos attack. Seems to me a to be a real break down in the network if this attack is not handled somehow.
I found Geth and downloaded it and ran it manually. I ran it with these settings to hopefully speed it up.
geth --fast --maxpeers 99 --cache 1024 --jitvm
It is still having problems down loading blocks. Extremely slow. All geth reports is this message over and over.

Try to install 0.8.2 and patch geth.exe ... or you can try to look for Ethereum Wallet in Appdata/Roaming or somewhere like this (I don't quite remember)Or, they could just watch a youtube clip:

Yes, should only be from ddos attack. As for the geth: sorry I'm not sure

I tried 0.8.3 with 2 different geth versions, its just dropping nodes (hard-fork check failed), now I'm trying to sync with parity, it became slow as well, about 9k blocks to sync but its going with 2-3blk/sec. 2 days ago when I could sync it to full with parity, I couldn't send any transactions with the 0.8.3 wallet, couldn't determine gas price and just aborted transactions. For days I can't use eth now, can anyone help here?
