I am new here. I started becoming extremely interested in Ethereum/ether, wouldn't you know it, the day AFTER the big DAO hard fork. I saw that Coinbase was supporting Ethereum suddenly and that's exactly what piqued my interest. I had no knowledge about the whole DAO-Hard fork brouhaha before hand. I am undeterred, now more than ever. I've always wanted to be into something big just as it explodes. Don't we all? I do believe I have found it. If not, well, what the hell. I shall keep investing until I see that my hopes and strategy are no longer accurate.

Classic ethereum is x10 cheaper than the fork! I shall keep investing until I see that my hopes and strategy are no longer accurate.

you can also use parity as the node this will definitely work

https://ethcore.io/parity.html

install it and create shortcut or find shortcut and in shortcut target make change

Code:

"C:\Program Files\Ethcore\Parity\parity.exe" ui

change to [ UI to --GETH ]

Code:

"C:\Program Files\Ethcore\Parity\parity.exe" --geth

click parity.exe shortcut to run it then open up mist. mist will use parity to sync the block chain and is very fast

hello the wallet 0.8.3 also have fixed geth i think i look file size same
yes i delete chaindata folder
also not working no start download blockchain

my other wallet stuck 2306004 and download 1 block per hour
still runing maybe 28 hour and no full sync i look eth forum many many guy same problem..

i put this https://github.com/ethereum/go-ethereum/releases/tag/v1.4.12 geth exe the mist filder and start syncing from begining i hope this work and not stuck over 2 300 000 block

did you delete chaindata folder? you must delete it it contains old blockchain. new mist has --fast switch installed but it will only work if chaindata deleted

your eth is not lost it is on the blockchain forever Wink

if you do not need it wait for new release mist which they working on last release quick job to stop spam attack

repeat steps and leave open for more than 10 minutes it can be 2-4 hours

I am now outside home and cannot check my wallet.. could you tell me if it is fixed already or still are problems?

Yelp, it all works now - you just need to delete off, the old stuff, like the blockchain and re-download the blockchain for 0.8.3.

Just remember, not delete the Keystore hidden folder with you wallet in it.

Read the previous post on this ANN from a couple of days back on 0.8.3.

The last attack was not serious, somebody or group spent a huge amount of time looking for some transactions that were under-priced in terms "gas" usage, relative to the computational time and put together a smart contract to spam those expensive computational transactions.

So, the developers did a super-fast fix for it.

could I use updated geth with 0.8.2
should I use any special flags ?
