What is the projected yearly return on investment for an Ethereum validator running a staking node?
The annual yield is not yet determined caused by it needs more time to launch ethereum POS system. As far as i know if the annual yield already expected to be around 3% - 10%. This is just my prediction based on some opinions from the experts and the ethereum core developers.

This is a pretty huge milestone in my opinion and I see it as a net positive rather than a negative, in so much as it shows that the Ethereum development community is generally very focused on good practice. Assuming the dev community addresses the issues brought up in the report as it seem they are doing...

I guess the recent price drop shows that much of the BS behind ethereum and crypto is exactly that, just BS.. So much for anonymous and anti establishment saviour of the world. the coins seems to drop at 2x the speed of the regular markets.

It was thanks in huge part to this forum that 31,000 BTC worth $18.5 million ($596 each Bitcoin) was raised in the Ethereum ICO but shortly after the Ethereum team decided it was not going to post here.

Maybe this forum no longer holds any value for the team.

Ethereum has been dumping insanely after the bitcoin dump and i have lost my investment in Eth. Is is being traded at 123$ now while a week ago it was well above 200$.  Cry
I regret myself that i did not sell at that moment. If i have sold at 220$, i would have bought double ethereum by now.

Sorry, but how did you lost your investment in ETH? Did you sell at a lower price than the one you bought? Why would anyone do that? If you don't have faith in the future of the project then you shouldn't even invest in it, right?

Personally, I want ETH to drop at least another 50%! Grin

Why can't you sell at the lower price when you need some money to meet your daily expenses.

You might want Ethereum to go more below than its current value, but think about those who have bought it at higher prices and are stuck with it. If Eth does not move up quickly, people will lose trust and interest in the project. Don't you think on these lines  Huh

Nope. When I think of 'investments' then I think long term. Everything else is just speculative trading and that's very similar to gambling. Especially if you have no idea what you are doing and don't have enough experience in market trading.
And what do you mean by "when you need some money to meet your daily expenses"? The most important rule of investing - "never invest money that you can't afford to lose"! Put you money in the bank and collect peanuts from the passive interest. Wink

Rather, put ur money in a mattress. There, it will be much safer... Ethereum lost community's trust ages ago. They now want a fork, and they know beforehand that the prices will surge immensely (since bitcoin lost quite a share, and now, with massive money exiting from bitcoin and possibly seeking better safe-heaven alternatives eth seems an alluring option). I agree though that saying that everyone dumps cryptos for food / respiratory masks is a dumb excuse to make. Most DO invest what they can afford to lose. The case is likely be that those who incurred loses in traditional markets sell crypto to cover their negative gains in stocks / equities.

How will you define long term ?  Ethereum was 0.1 BTC in Jan / Feb 2018 and after 2 years the ethereum price still not reach the buying price.
So what? ETH was at about $100 this time last year and only $11 three years ago. You can't say that wasn't a good investment.
All markets have their ups and downs, just look at the price of gold, oil, stocks or any other investment instrument.

Secondly, sometimes even if you plan for long term investments, you might face an emergency situation where you need to cash out, no matter what the price is of the altcoin / bitcoin.

I understand that, I've been in similar situations myself. But that just means I didn’t plan well in the long run. This is by no means a good time to sell unless you think the price could go even lower. What I mean to say is you didn't lose money until you sold.
