Yes, they are welcome to build/test dApps all they like on EXP live. (The lower EXP price means they are much less expensive to actually run) -- The main use case as I see it is the community having the freedom to modify the project as we wish over time, and experiment with different paths/choices. Different block times, counts, rewards, funding design, difficulty settings, and so on. We are not locked in to the exact same choices that ETH makes.

Yes, the EXP price I thought also would be the main attraction
along with a live environment. As for those consensus variables that you
mention, it is generally not a good idea to change them without very
solid reasons.

I may have thought up an actual use case for Expanse.
It could be marketed to Ethereum DApp developers as a sort
of "live" testnet.

Ethereum has a testnet on its own, but it seems
to me that a traded coin with a real userbase can provide much
better simulation of the eventual deployment.

Interesting.
Actually wondering if ETH-EXP could be linked to allow for "expanded", second tier, low cost capacity for ETH dApps to run on, that may not require the faster confirmation time and higher security.
This could get interesting once the high cost of ETH, or demand based dApp contention ever becomes an issue.

Just wondering, will Expanse be able to integrate with dogecoin in the same way Ethereum is/is trying to?

I think Dogecoin is trying to get into Ethereum rather than the other way around, but there is no reason we could not do the same later. (Assuming open source code for whatever Doge is using)

not much dumping going on, considering that the price was pumped some time ago, but in any case
dev, do you appear to consider a merged mining with some other coin in the future?

We are considering a variety of possibilities. I think the idea of going hybrid POW/POS is interesting, as ETH will no longer be able to be mined, and we could get massive extra hash power that way. Better for long term distribution and we can still easily control inflation.

POS only is likely the leading option, then POW/POS Hybrid, then something else that is a new type of hybrid is another option (if everyone agreed).

As for merge mining, a lot of the hyped alt coin merge mining algos are pretty bad, but if there was a secure option that could be interesting.

POW / POS hybrid sounds interesting

I have a couple of questions regarding EXP:

Do I need to update my wallet for homestead?
What block # will homestead be active?

Thanks everyone.

Hi peterepeat,

Yes please update your wallet to the latest version if you are running it locally.
Homestead will activate at block 200000 according to: https://github.com/expanse-project/go-expanse/commit/c8fef265dcc933ec28080dedcc2eaaa8ca0e6324
See http://stats.expanse.tech/ to calculate exactly when its going to be.

Happy Expanseing!

Big gamers acumulate EXP. I em buying.

+1000 buy and hold...
and watch the next step

It still seems like a good entry price at .0013 btc, esp with an ATH of .039 btc.

I think with the devs having enough funds for the next few years, Expanse will be a good long term hold imo.

When EXP exceed the full homestead?

Homestead is completed and just a matter of hitting the block. I believe Suprnova and others are already updated for it. Franko would have the specifics on that.

I get 70 MH on this coin but only 60 MH on Ethereum no changes. Is this the way things are supposed to happen?

yes, because the DAG file is larger on ETH already, it has todo with the block count.

The further the network is, the slower you mine.
