I have been trying to sync with the network and download the block chain for almost 24 hours with no progress.

Are there any additional nodes that can be added besides the one in the OP?

Well, wtf is happening with EXC again? Difficulty is 55 (!) now, lol.

Someone or a group of people are solo mining this with massive amounts of power, this will probably 51% attack the chain and might kill it, I do have checkpoints in place. There is not much that can be done, unless you know of someone who has 1000 7950's that you could borrow?

I never understand killing a chain, as to 51% attack it you have to mine a lot of the coins, so surely it would make better sense in terms of profit to them sell the coins?

Anyway, the difficulty adjusts every 2 blocks with an average of the last 4, so as soon as they give up, things will rapidly go back to normal after only a few blocks, then they might just dump all their coins, if they do that at this low value, then I will happily buy them all.

So when do you think the best time would be for Cryptsy to add this coin?

Right now it is probably more easier to mine EXC rather than buy them but once that reward drop gets closer, more users might have to move to buying coins.

So should Cryptsy add EXC before the reward drop or after?

I'd say it needs to go on sooner rather than later, we don't want to increase public awareness with a listing on Cryptsy only for those people to see that a few select miners have mined the coin and they themselves can no longer mine it.

The listing would spread awareness and get more miners on board to distribute the available coins more fairly before the rewards run down.

Well I have heard nothing from Cryptsy but a guy called Omega has made a Google Doc's Bitcoin Scrypt Exchange and put me as the middleman for trades, if things go well on there I imagine it could get a lot of attention and I could ask him if he could add Extremecoin on there too?

Think that sounds like a good thing? The great thing about Google Doc exchanges is you cannot really have pump and dumps do to the time delay of placing an order and it completing, so what you find is the price on there tends to be a realistic one, it just about getting the volume.

You can find the link to it on this website Bitcoinscrypt.org, that is Omega6's website.

Same here and i've added that node and it remained at 0 connections. However after downloading  your blockchain I got connections.

Oh yes, we did have a problem with one of the early blocks on release day, glad to see that you read back through the threads for a fix.

If this issue persists I would suggest putting the blockchain on the OP and website Download page to inform people. I doubt many new users would spend much time trying to figure out why it cant connect, would just be seen as broken and they would move on to something else.

It did not work for me until I downloaded your blockchain either.

Hi,

I downloaded the version 1.2  but it gets stuck with "0 active connections to the extreme coin network"

Could some one post a few nodes to add to it?

Cheers
 MC

Have you tried this one buddy addnode=212.48.67.126

Thanks

Whoop, looks like we are back on track with this update.

Diff is down, pools are up to date and we have a decent number of miners on both!

On top of that the new website looks pretty slick and the coins value is starting to recover on the exchanges.

Nice work CaptChadd!  Grin

Reloading blockchain from scratch using V1.2

0 blocks downloaded. 2 hrs... /check back later, thing refuses to update.

Update: starting with a fresh v1.2 results in a stuck wallet. no blocks would download. Only way for me to have access to my coins was to copy over the blockchain posted by CaptChadHuh

Some miners are putting a combined 9+ Mh/s on the netcoin pool and dont seem to understand that their work is futile, is there any way to contact the pool owner?

I have tired everything i can to mine on coinex and no luck with port 80, gutted to be missing out on this   Sad

Update:

Right so cant mine with stratum on coinex? I can connect with LP just fine... anyone got any ideas?

Best just stick to long poll.

The other pool might be trying to fork the chain back to the original diff 22 one which could be classed as an attack unless the pool owner upgrades his client.

If http://extreme.netcoin.pl/ pool hasn't updated it's client why are people still mining there at difficulty 22?  Are they wasting their time?

Yes, even if they find a block it will be orphaned.

The chain we are working off is the main one. I mean which one would you mine, difficulty 22 or the one we have right now lol.

I've got the new client and the difficulty in mine matches up with CoinEX.

That's good, shows that this hard fork could be going to plan.

I have just changed the download links for a slightly changed client but only with the new Icon and version number changed, nothing major.

What do you see in your client debug getmininginfo?

blocks" : 7868,
"currentblocksize" : 1000,
"currentblocktx" : 0,
"difficulty" : 0.85823730,

"pooledtx" : 0,
"testnet" : false

Looks like people are moving across and this leads me to the next big point, it is looking like we are going to hit the reward 1 drop a lot sooner.

I changed the code so that the difficulty would be changed every two blocks and that it would adjust based on an average of the last four.

Basically now, this is a two minute coin, instead of a 5 minute one.
