Interesting speculation on reddit:

Pretty obvious... Ernst & Young / Factom partnership will be announced in a couple of hours
https://www.reddit.com/r/factom/comments/5470pa/pretty_obvious_ernst_young_factom_partnership/

I'm not so sure, but maybe he has a point, because Ernst & Young really is very interested in Blockchain.

And what is also interesting: Host of the "2nd Blockchain Summit" is the Wanxiang Group which is already connected to Factom because of DataYes:

About DataYes
DataYes is China’s first open and big data information platform, curating both structured and unstructured data from across the globe covering key economic metrics as well as industry, company, e-commerce, search and social media data. It is a treasure box full of raw materials for artificial intelligence and quantitative investment research. At least this rumor is enough to get the price a little bit up because there is a lot of talking about it on Polo. ;-)

Not directly mentioning Factom but relevant considering Wanxiang's main conduit to conducting this type of service have signed MOUs with Factom in 2016. $30 billion is a big market that will come into existence Q1 2017. If Factom is able to capture just 1% of that market exposure the protocol and/or the company could be valued at $300 million which is 10x from current funding valuation & free trading valuation. Now its likely ETH and private solutions will encompass the bulk of the market but any business that Factom can acquire will be a big step into early stage commercialization post M2 launch.

I used to use stops whilst trading FCT, but I was getting hit by these mega dumps which seemed to catch my stop loss at just the right pain point, before the inevitable rally. This made me feel like I had lost twice. I then read this article:

http://tradingsim.com/blog/stop-loss-orders/

and the bottom line is I don't use stops any more now. Been much more profitable ever since.

Now if I could just completely give up the day trading and pick winners on a monthly or quarterly basis, I think I might start winning biggggg......

Buy and hold generally works better than trying to time the market.

Price wise, it so obvious what the whale does. He dumps the price at 500 and then sets up huge buy orders at 450. So, you weak hands, if you re that stupid to let him make 10% each dump, so be it. Just keep losing money so can make 10% each dump round.

This is exactly what occurs, they run the stops and put up some deep bids to reload from the sub-par traders who put all their stops in the same place; its been happening since .0025 .0036 .004 and so on. Best strategy is just to join the big bids slightly higher, so that you get filled first near the lows.

The FCT MM is a god near perfection in his skill.

That whale can't be making money dumping like that ?  Anyone ? He keeps on doing it for what reasons? Hoping to scare people into dumping ? Or He's making money dumping and shorting, because of other limit/sell orders kicking in ? Economy of scale ? Is it profitable because he's dumping 400 BTC worth and shorting 2x amount at the same time ? Doesn't seem like normal market forces would allow that to be profitable. Reminds me of a joke I once heard. How do you make a small fortune ? Start with a large one ...you will end up with a small one.

If he is a guy who bought 200k FCT in the ICO - he can make profit. But I have no doubt that the price will recover soon.

What also could be: He may speculate on the weekend. Over the week it's never safe if the team will release something or not. But now we are near to the weekend and the "risk" that Factom publishes news or releases the M2-public-testnet may be low and that could be seen as opportunity to scare the market to buy lower.

But, just public brainstorming. There are multiple other possible scenarios.

Not sure we are going to see testnet this month. They are leaving it very late now. Hope i'm wrong.

We should see SOMETHING this month. They haven't made any annoucements since the 1st!

M2 coming this month from what I recall. Haven't kept up to tabs around here lately but had a few orders hit in the mid 40s.

They might announce something tomorrow. David Johnston is speaking at the blockchain week in Shanghai tomorrow.

Yes. It's unpredictable. But what I still like in Factom: If we think about the last months they continued to surprise with new partnerships etc. Even boring days are not boring because one never knows if they push something out. ;-)

At this point, if it stays or goes any lower for a few days. I can get some more $$ into an exchange. I keep cost averaging lower and lower.  Sell off what I don't want on the way back up for profit. The problem is once it in the profitable range I end up keeping it all. lol,  Then it starts all over. Smiley

Well Poloniex is a casino more or less. The best thing to do with Factom is to buy and withdraw it and forget about it for a year or two. At least a portion of it.

And if you can't predict things like these huge dumps well who can except one person then the best method of buying is on a schedule to prevent buying at the wrong time.

Better to hold. The whale will be forced to buy back eventually. Too much risk IMO.
