Hi

I wanted to tell you an adventure that happened to my Apollo tonight... The Apollo is not involved, but rather the micro SD card!

To setup the Apollo I used a SD card no name of 4 GB. And this morning I had the unpleasant surprise to see the Apollo with fan
extinguished and visibly crashed! And a strong smell of burnt plastic and / or electric, and the aluminium fan was burning!

At first I thought the apollo was dead, I turned everything off and let the electronics cool down... I tested the power supply, then
I tried and turn on the apollo but nothing happened.

Nooooooooo!!!!!!!! (Primal scream)

But, i thinked about the Micro SD card, i removed the card from the Apollo et tried to format it with my mac and strangly the mac wont format it...
I tried on my PC and same shit... so i burned another micros SD sandisk card and the Apollo re-worked perfectly!!!

(JStefanop)

Morality, do not hesitate to use some good quality SD cards, else if the system crash the fans can't control and cool down the chips :/ A procedure of shutdown
should be usefull in this case Smiley

Else is there a way to know if a chip was damaged ?

Regards

PS: But I was scared during this story Smiley Smiley

Here is my config Smiley One Apollo, and a raspberry running 5 moonlander 2 overclocked Smiley

#skipcbcheck#xnsub  dont work it says dead, im trying to pool and rent the unit within it's own miner app

Please use the support thread linked in the main post for support related questions. If the pool shows dead it means your login credentials are incorrect.

Is anyone using Apollo to run BOINC ARM (e.g. Rosetta or World Community Grid)? Do you need all cores to run the internal OS & software?

No, mining/controller stuff uses like 1-5% of the processing power on this 4 core ARM cpu. Probably not a good idea to tax it 100% though since it already runs hot due to the proximity to the main hashboard.

Can we solo scrypt using bfgminer yet? For some reason, bfgminer for your scrypt asic miners can't do it. Always have to use a pool and pay fees.

Thats on the to-do list.

think the pools I tried on have stats update issues . I hope Apollo is total compab with all pools I tried a very low diff port pool it works fine and for usb sticks I think I know where I went wrong as I tried doin on several computers with ghekkos on them either one or other work depend which driver I updated last but also it can be usb ports and power hubs im using one thing great about Apollo I can mine without a usb driver which made it easy

all I need is a list of pools it works great on so far give-me-coins work nice with all futurebit miners I was thinking of renting it out say like on nicehash or mrr but I find too many renters on normal bit-main machines tend to throw them rigs on so high diff pools im having great arguments with renters who ripping us rig owners off but esp admins who run them trying to convince them my rig is not working when it is lol

gekko (sidehack) use different drivers than stuff made by jstefano. So, you can not use gekko and moonlander/apollo on the same computer. the usb drivers conflict with each other.

not sure what your point about pools are. you need to take it up with the pool operator if you think there's issue there. what works for me sometimes is to add #skipcbcheck#xnsub to the end (e.g. stratum+tcp://pool:7777/#skipcbcheck#xnsub). If you asked more humbly, I think you'd get more help with your mining issues. so far, you've not made a real attempt to describe your issues (we can't read your mind) nor are pool issues (which sound like user error) really apollo miner issues.

No, not a lot of sense to be got out of those posts. I've found the Apollo to be one of the easiest setups ever, only complicated by choosing a PSU. The web UI is particularly idiot-proof, or so I thought.

Hi,
Is there anyone selling 1 of these units new or 2nd hand in the UK? I would want to pay in BTC or other crypto currency.
Reasonable prices only please.

Thanks
J

There are some people scalping these, and people buying them for way over what my price is. Not sure why people are buying them at those prices, when we still have units left in our Batch 1 stock, and you can pay crypto on our site....

Yeah, its crazy...i think the biggest issue in the UK is the import duties, and customs seizing them, so i guess the guys in the UK think they can inflate the prices....
Still, i can wait, so will only pay less than from your site for 2nd hand.... (just looking at an L3 for only 160 GBP, or 230 GBP with bitmain psu)
Shame you dont have a UK distributor. I dont get why none of the UK groups didnt buy some...
Oh well, maybe i will drop lucky
J

I'm in the U.K. I ordered 2 of the preorder units, import tax was roughly £50 for the pair so its not too bad. delivery times are pretty damn quick too I'm tempted to get a couple more.

Hey Smiley Thanks for that. Thats good to know, not too bad at all...

no hashing on any pool I try to put it on is mining or errors up, same with your moonlander 2 sticks, so rushed off and expensive devices I was planning to buy 20 but lucky I bought a prototype

MAYBE I STUFFED UP SOMEWHERE maybe hub on moonlander sticks or something ill play with those, but this Apollo is too good to be true atm

Maybe if you tried to ask for help in the support thread you would figure out what your doing wrong. We have shipped hundreds of these with very few issues.

i dont have one of these but i do have moonlander 2 and the original moonlander usb sticks..
im am guaranteeing your issue is 100% user error.

oh and before you buy 20 of these, id consider just getting a cheap l3 and undervolting and underclocking it.

these were never meant to replace larger and less expensive asics.. they are for a hobby miner that just wants one or two.
