I can see why some would reason in favor of that here.
But I remember that devs initially denied that ASICs could mine this coin. It's possible that they picked scrypt-n by mistake given that the coin was advertised as ASIC resistant on its release.
Either that of the devs knowingly released Garlicoin on an unexperienced audience knowingly putting the ASIC-broken scrypt-n as it's algo, potentially to benefit from such with their insider knowledge. And if that's the case, Allium, the new algo, is just damage control. It seems like development has been abandoned after that point anyway.
yeah, your line above on development abandoned is right on...
Someone with more skills then myself should make a 'garlicoin classic' NO pre-mine, say till 5 million coins or some such..then pre-mine a set % for development only...and a start
at 0 difficulty on say midnight, such and such a date....(hmmm...guess that would be a new coin ..not a fork)...again you would show 1) fair start 2) scrypt-n 3) reasonable
pre-mine AFTER A POINT IN TIME for development....etc etc
Again, I know zip...guess maybe not call it garlicoin classic...in that it would not be a real fork as such...if you start at 0 difficulty...on a set time/date...Would have to make a new scrypt-N coin as such....there be by my count 7K of Titans out there boys and girls (out of say an original 12k or so..that likely are junk or burnt up) still running after 4 plus years....give them a reason to mine something..they may just do so..
again, garliccoin won't ..but they need something drastic to move this garlicoin project besides 'we have a cute name...mine us'
but again, development has been obviously abandoned as you point out..so I'm just cursing at the wind it seems
