So you'll move to PoS after a period of PoW (with efforts to maintain asic resistance)? Plus with masternodes down the track?

Initially we are PoW with a view to introducing PoS and masternodes at a later date (see roadmap).
Regarding asics, we're somewhat agnostic. We're launching with equihash 192 7 which is gpu only (asic resistant) but we're fully aware that if it is profitable enough asics will follow. Long term we'll see what the community concensus is regarding asic resistance. There's pros and cons to both.
You will be able to mine day one using any gpu or cpu using common mining programs such as ewbf miner. Pools will follow soon. Due to being the first equihash coin with random blocks on btc 0.16.2 we're doing a lot of pioneering development.
We're different because this implementation has never been done before and because we wish to create a genuine currency for use with point of sale as opposed to a store of wealth which most currencies have become. This is why we have a fast distribution initially to improve supply.
