Doomed to see the future and unable to prevent it
Hello,
I've been mining GRIN for few days using GGM. GrinPro miner also seems to be working. However, I want to squeeze a little bit more hash power from the RX580 8G that I have, so I tried bminer (latest version 14.1).
I'm getting the following error:
" Failed to initialize the CUDA platform: CudaError: Failed to load nvml.dll "
It seems to be something related to the bminer software, as the mining works just fine with the other two miners.
I have tried searching with no luck. Any ideas what may be going wrong?

Cuda is Nvidia specific AFAIK (but they just open sourced it so maybe it's been adopted - I doubt it though). AMD uses a different Physics engine originally havok then renamed mantle now called vulcan which OpenCl takes advantage of .

I'm still having trouble wrapping my mind around how all that works.

I really need to sit down and read about the tech behind this, but, well, life is pulling me in other directions right now.

Trying to figure out why my 2080ti Windows bminer rig decides to reset the GPU clock and fan settings from time-to-time, and that's aggravating in and of itself, considering the other balls I'm juggling...

EDIT: Seems the 2080ti causes bminer to crash and auto-restart with a 200mHz overclock. The auto-restart seems to cause the fans to reset. Testing now with a 150mHz overclock, but glad I'm able to narrow things down. The Zotac 2080ti does not seem to recognize the fans with Afterburner, so forced to use some other tool to manage the clock/fans. Using EVGA Precision XOC to manage the Zotac, and first time I've used that suite of tools...

It's your clocks.
+150 would be the maximum.
Should be a lot more stable at +100.
Memory clock set to 0.
You are trying to find the fine balance between power consumption and G/s.
What is your G/s? Guessing ~ 20+ G/s for c29?

With NVDIA you should make it work with Afterburner.
Must try:
https://www.zotac.com/news/new-and-improved-firestorm-utility
Set fans manual to 60%-80% always.

bminer will not work with AMD for Grin at the moment.
You can use one of the other options.

Keep in mind there are no addresses or amounts so that limits the user-friendliness.

From what I understand it's not that hard.
You have two options,
A) Sign a transaction and send it to another user who will receive or send the coins, they sign it as well and then either of you broadcast it in the network.
B) You use an HTTPS address for a handshaking-like signing of a transaction and broadcasting. Not sure about how that one works exactly, but I suppose that running a local wallet will give you an address... probably not very useful if you have a dynamic IP but there shouldn't be a risk of losing the coins by sending them in a non-existing IP. If you don't sign the transaction, the coins won't be sent.

I haven't read the details of this system, but from what I've read and experienced this is what I understand.

Edit : This explorer requires to be more user-friendly like other bitcoin based block explorers. It is more technical in my opinion.

The lesson for every development or research team watching looks pretty clear: more scammy ICOs for more money and a lot less work. Perhaps forcefully taking 20% of all rewards is the only way to get any contribution out of the mining industry. Are those the conclusions you want to impress on everyone in this sector? Because if greed feeding on itself is the only lesson, then this space truly deserves a really long and hard winter. A lot more creation is needed to reach escape velocity, and that won’t happen if everyone’s goal is just feeding off it.

Yup, don't let the fucking scamming leeches steal this scene. Go in those fucking forked Grin threads and blow them up and get this shit funded you cheap ass bastards. You pay more to the fucking miner Devs than this guy!

Are there any block explorer available? How do you find a transaction has occurred? If not, are there any block explorer in works? Do you have any bounty to try for one?

https://grinexplorer.net/
https://grin.merklepath.com/
https://grinscan.net/

here you are, next time, google it

That is a good find. When I searching for google, google says google can't be find. That's a different game. I will visit those sites and find a better one for me. Thanks for the list. Someone, who has github account, suggest the OP to add the explorer in the ANN post via https://github.com/Lavalulu/GrinANN/blob/master/Grin-Ann-text

Edit : This explorer requires to be more user-friendly like other bitcoin based block explorers. It is more technical in my opinion.

There is the first clone coin from Grin coin.
[ANN] Grimble [GRB] | PoW Cuckatoo | MimbleWimble |Private | Low Inflation |
I don't see innovative technical ideas from Grimble team, honestly.

Well, with Grin's current monetary policy I can't say I'm suprised. People have been complaining about this since day 1. Pretty legit concern also, since all coins will be close to wortheless over time. (Dogecoin V2.0?)

How can they say 0.2% premine when the coin supply is infinite? The actual amount is nowhere to be found since there are no explorers yet.
It seems to me as an effort to capitalise on GRIN's popularity and on people's fear about its emission. There's no website, no explorer, no community... behind this could be a single person who's planning to dump the premine on the first exchange and disappear.

What difference, with 16gbgpu/asics or without? It will same 60 coins per minute.

The difference is that when the AMD and OBELISK plants sell this shit to miners GRIN - they will stop supporting the price of GRIN and finally stop the HYIP Smiley

So you think AMD and OBELISK supporting GRIN price right now, any arguments/facts? Or just personal thoughts?

What difference, with 16gbgpu/asics or without? It will same 60 coins per minute.

I don't think you can compare them to ASIC's when they come out.
Your 16bg GPU will not stand a chance against an ASIC, at least at X20 performance factor, and only X2 or bit more cost wise.
That is, if it performs like two 2080ti's.
Also you have to consider the reward scheme swing from c29 to c31.

So on? Still don't understand why price will go down after ASIC's release. It still will be 60 coins per minute, with or without ASIC's.

BitMesh announced that Luxor miners now can withdraw Grin from Luxor directly to Bitmesh with instant and simple experience. https://bitmesh.com/exchange?market=btc_grin#/ .  now f2pool, sparkpool, pool.btc.com, girmint pool all support to transfer grin from pools to BitMesh directly.

Does anyone know what percent of GPUS are mining Grin versus Beam and all the other alts right now? It seems like everyone is on Grin and the difficulty is ridiculous.

there's always

Network is functioning well, over 25 connected peers now.
Hashrate and difficulty are also rapidly increasing: https://imgur.com/a/l21Aljt
