I advise the team to hire more advisors for specific parts of the platform that can push certain aspects of the platform into better versions of itself. The idea will be better then

Seriously newbie?  I do not think so.  Please pad your posting stats on other coins.

Looks like we're getting more bots these days too.
One of these days though, when Cryptos in general, and Guncoin become more widespread, I believe this will all look so silly.
Those fluffing up their post count could have been picking up some of these coins with huge potential for next to nothing pricing instead ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well, I think that the team needs to promote the project on various platforms including social media platform as well as the forum

OK - you mean like Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/guncoin/) or Twitter (https://twitter.com/TeamGuncoin) with over 1000 Followers?

We did some updates and maintenance on the GuncoinPool.com mining pool this weekend.  It is now out of maintenance mode and everything is back to normal operations with it.

The current situation on the market is beginning to improve, finally the prices have gone up slightly and Guncoin too.

You are correct - we have seen a 3-4 sat increase that appears to be a stable jump since the block reward changed from 150 down to 100 early this morning.

The price still seems fairly stable.
Not as much volume as I'd like to see, but stable is nice, and there seems to be some good buy support too.

For those who have not noticed, GUN is approaching a major milestone in the next day or two. Our block height will reach 1,000,000.  That is a lot of blocks mined for a lot of coins by a lot of loyal miners over the past 4+ years.  As such, the reward will be reduced from 150 coins down to 100 coins per block when we reach 1,000,000.  We thank the community for all their support and look forward to many more good times in the years to come with Guncoin.

I appreciate the heads up regarding this.
Looks like it should happen tomorrow.

Yes, no issues - smooth transition as expected - reward is now 100 GUN per block.

It will be interesting to see how it affects our hash rate and how the 4-5 auto-switch pools deal with it.  That is a 33% decrease in profitability for them and may knock a few of them off the network.  Where our hash rate was pretty consistently around 240 MHz yesterday, we are now running around 145 MHz this morning.  So PLEASE do not be alarmed - this is due to the handful of auto-switch pools adjusting what they do with GUN.

Hi dev,

I see you update the core with every bitcoin update. Also you're getting more merchants onboard. Great!

Have you considered building Electrum-GUN for investors? Getting in TREZOR would be awesome too
Also consider listing GUN in more exchanges. Being only at Cryptopia is a big risk.

rw

We always review other exchanges.  A week does not go by where we do not get "offers" for other exchanges.  Being listed on other exchanges costs money of course - none are free.  Additionally, all have some type of minimum volume requirements to stay listed.  It would not be to our advantage, to spend 5 BTC to get listed somewhere only to be dropped 6 months later because we do not trade 10-20 BTC per month.  At this time, we do have several that we are considering, but not willing to disclose which ones to avoid any hype.

In regards to your other suggestions, yes, all are being considered.  Thanks for your kind words and inputs!

Are you going to post the hashes of the wallet downloads on the website so we can verify they have not been tampered with?

The block explorer is there for all to see and research with - knock yourself out.  Will let you know once our guy finally gets it upgraded.

Maybe I didnt explain well enough... I'm talking about the sha256 hash of the actual wallet download files, the .zip, dmg, etc.. This enables the users downloading the file to check the sha256 hash of the downloaded file against the hash you post on the guncoin.info website so we can verify the download has not been tampered with or hacked and replaced with malicious files unknown to you. The same can be acheived via a GPG signature.

As it is now, we have no way of knowing if the wallet download files on the guncoin.info site are the actual files you created and posted for download.

This is very common and done on most all files that are of importance like a crypto wallet. Check the Bitcoin wallet download page and you will see the links to the hashes (signatures) and also the GPG public key.

Thanks

OK, understood - simple answer is no.  If there is any doubt, you can download directly from the github site.

Additionally, I am running an old version of the wallet, 1.3.0 I believe. Am I safe to run the most current version without having to do anything?

It should work fine, just make sure that you make a backup first for good measure as during any upgrade.
My memory tells me that the resync/index is pretty fast (relative to other cryptos), maybe a little over an hour.
