FYI, we will be moving the primary website at http://www.guncoin.info in the next couple of days to our server - maybe sooner.  We hope this goes smooth - but you never know what hiccups might occur along the way. We will be switching to a WordPress style site from the current Joombla style - nothing wrong with the current one - just not what we are used to.  Additionally, all the seed nodes are tied in at the registrar where they are mapped to the actual IP addresses of the true seed nodes.  As such, during the transition, they may experience some delay in connections.  Again, we hope this goes smooth - if it does not, we will work as quickly as we can to get everything back and going.

OK, we now have the SSL certificate attached to the ad site and everything should be fully functional.  We will not be charging for the classified ads.  However, we think that we will offer banner advertising of some sorts and will charge a reasonable amount of GUN for that.  We do have it configured so that we have to approve all new signups, so we would appreciate it if you use your forum names so we know who is who on the ad site.  Please be patient as the new signup notifications typically go to our spam bucket, so if for some reason we miss the notification that you signed up, after a reasonable time, please PM us here and we will get you approved on the ad site.  I think we have one signup yesterday already.

I think that to support guncoin is also important keep the wallet always online and conected to guncoin network to help it and to show people that this coin has supporters that will use it .

Agreed - the more connections we show to newbies the better.  FYI, we did change all the seed nodes last week, plus we added one - there are now 4.  You can see the config info in the user-guide.  These have helped increase the speed we sync a little bit I think and improve part of the infrastructure we are slowly rebuilding for the longer term.

This is where the IPO and premine has an advantage.  They have coin to offer peeps to help with their goal.

I'm willing to do this, although I'm not sure about the work involved, but letting the DEV do a hard fork and create a half million coin or so to offer others in exchange for services, and let the coin grow.  The original dev squandered the premine, and there's a serious advantage to having coin to offer peeps to help.

Also dev, if you're a coin specialist, you may consider adding some of the source from the sys coin, and get trade built right into the blockchain.

Well, we are not willing to take a hard fork and create more coins at this time.  Regardless of what happened with the premine, that is water under the bridge.  Those coins are in some wallet some where now and we want to make them worth a lot more than they are today.  Spreading work around within the community is a good thing and will impress all outsiders.  That is what caused Blackcoin and a few others to come out of nowhere and be successful - there was more than one person or one group who actively promoted the coin.  Like I said, we are willing to do all we need to do, but it takes time and resources.  The more time and support GUN gets, the better it will be.

All that being said, a high priority on our to-do list is evaluating the coin itself and ways to make it technically better.  Your ideas and feedback on this are more than welcome.  Forking is fine, if there is some long term value to be gained.  We are not that familiar with SYS.  I think if you gave a quick overview of favorable features with the pros and cons, the community here could judge what might be a positive move for GUN.  Again, thanks so much for the feedback.

And, I'll be traveling this weekend, 6 hours sitting in a car, time to red-line the user guide...  I have written and edited documentation at work to explain high level fiber optic issues in street level language, and gotten good feedback on the results, so me having a chance to go through it before you release it might be a good idea..

Plus, I'll be spending the weekend partying with a guy that I turned on to mining, and he has made a decent buck because he's a good coder and sysadmin..  Actually, he's a world renowned coder and been interviewed in the Wall Street Journal.

DEV, you should really pm me, there's discussions we should have that shouldn't be public.  Wink

Oh, and fresh twitter and facebook posts will let people know that it's not dead.

Understood and agreed - we just got control of GUN Facebook and Twitter pages last week and threw up a quick post on each and will continue to do so.  Like you said, I am hesitant to open the flood gates of outsiders until everything is nice and neat.  If things are not fully functional, organized and fully supported, those outside the crypto community will prejudge us and disappear for a very long time. I know that tests the patience of some of you, but these meteoric coin price rises of new coins rarely last when people find out there is nothing behind them.  Our plan is to make GUN stand out as a stable, organized, professional and well-supported payment solution for gun enthusiasts.  Like I said, it does not happen over night.   A couple of items for the group......

1) I think we have the SSL cert working now at GunCoinAds.com.  Not really our area of expertise, but if some of you could check it out and see if it is acceptable, we can announce it soon to the outside world.

2) If there is no more feedback on the User Guide, we will announce that soon to the outside world as well.

3) In a perfect world, GUN users would come up with things to sell on the ad site - I am perfectly OK if any of you want to go out and get stickers, patches etc. and sell on your own.  Maybe even sell some on EBAY for extra visibility.  Some of you with that pre-mine should be considering that.  If not, I am happy to do it, but available resources will dictate what I do and when.  It would be great to have all those promotional items available soon.

Again, we appreciate your support of GUN!!!

This coin seems a good idea but it seems that it has 0 promo , I have been looking for info about it on forums and blogs related to firearms and couldn't find anything about . If you are expecting that guns fans use guncoin first They should know about it , you can't expect that They heard about by themselves since still a lot of people outside cryptoworld doesn't know anything about bitcoin .

You should start a promo campaing on weapons forums (every guncoin owner should promote it because it for his advantage) ,contact bloggers , magazines to talk about guncoin and his goals ASAP .

Honestly, I'm not upset that the growth has been this slow, it shows that gun is not a flash in the pan.  It's also been out for months and still has a loyal following with no real detractors and the bottom hasn't fallen out.

It does need growth, but it needs it not to be too quick..  Watching what SYS just went through as it launched, it takes more than 1 dev to handle big growth.  They had it, and as bad as the launch went, it's survived and is now handling a lot of hashrate and trading.

Crawl, walk, run..  Gun is currently making the transition from crawl to walk.  Gun needs to have something to offer the new people that find out about it, otherwise it's just going to turn them away when it's complicated with nothing to offer.

In the meantime, while it's working through its growth I'll just keep mining like I've been doing, and talk to a sticker guy about making some stickers..  If the dev is interested in the pricing I get, just lemme know.

Thanks for the feedback.  We are in a transition phase to a new project team and our plan is exactly as you stated.  We are in a state of flux right now trying to get websites moved and secured, new nodes established, user guides completed, promotional items evaluated, banner advertising determined, etc. etc. etc.  It does not happen over night and is not FREE by any means.  All great ideas you have and we are moving that direction to expand outside the crypto community. Once we have stabilized a few final things, you will start to see our banners in several places and some ads a chatter about us pop up.  I know it cannot happen soon enough for most, but we are going as fast as our resources will allow us.......

FYI, we are looking at getting samples for GUN patches, lapel pins, stickers, ball caps and challenge coins (real GUN coins) for promotional items.  These are items that could easily and cheaply by mailed out.  Any other items come to mind?Huh  I know coffee cups has been mentioned, but those are fragile and bulky.......

They're just outside of Dallas, and run a shop at First Monday's Trade Days in Canton.

Know exactly where they are now - have driven by that place dozens of times.  Once we get the transition completed and all in place, I will pay them a visit.......

I spoke with Goatboy and he said that once you guys have the coin squared away, he'll talk about coin promotion. Weather or not that means arfcom will back it themselves, or you can just have an ad up on the site is the question. Either way, he's the guy to talk to.

Thanks for the follow up on AR15.com - where in Texas did they move to - any ideas?Huh

Have been out of town for a few days.  Would still like some feedback on the users guide, so we can wrap that up and make it available to all.  Additionally, we will get the https going on the ad site this week, so that is ready to go as well.  Next we will be moving the website to new servers and giving it a facelift.  Not sure if we can get that all done this week - but will sure try.  Once that is done, we are much more attractive to those looking at us for the first time.

I like the idea of stickers, patches, etc. and even caps. Will be looking at those too.  Of course any one wants to help out and take the lead on those is more than welcome.  We will be alos looking at adding a few more exchanges in the near future if we are able to support the ones we are on now as well as we are today.  Mintpal or BTER are still the best - keep voting if you can on those.

Alex Jones? El oh el. You really want this coin to be backed by a guy that's seen as a conspiracy nut? A far better place to market the coin would be AR15.com. They have access to dozens of manufacturers like LaRue, Bushmaster, Colt, Barret, Rock River,  DPMS, Stag, Troy, Wilson, etc; and retailers like Cheaper than Dirt. Talk with the site staff (Ed Avilla Sr. is the owner, and is active on the site) about the coin, and you'll have access to tens of thousands of gun owners across the planet.

Here's the whole list.

Heh, the AR15 guys, their HQ used to be about 15 miles from here till they moved out of NY to Texas..  If they were still here I would have already been in their office explaining it to them.

I'm originally from the Rochester area as well. I believe some of the site staff still live in the area though the main HQ moved. If you want I can send Ed Sr, BamaShooter, and Aimless an email explaining the coin and see if they'd want to give it a test run, using small shit like stickers and patches. I'm not sure how many exchanges GUN is listed on though, so that'd need explaining. If they're willing get on board, I bet this coin would run like deer.

Too bad the wallet downloader still gives me issues, and I can't get it  Undecided I'm really interested in this coin
