In the News: This week in the news, Hector Network continued to score high on updates for the Fantom Network. We are in the top 3 projects by twitter community size on @FantomFDN and @fantom_network also posted our monthly recap for any highlights from August you may have missed!

Ecosystem Updates: Last week we assessed the collateral and liquidation factor on Hector Institute for the most of the assets. Due to the current market conditions and the giant volatility on Ethereum whilst it undergoes the Ethereum merge, we took the calculated approach to reduce the ETH borrow limit whilst ETH finds its stability. We will continue to assess the the Ethereum fluctuations and stability over the coming weeks closely and make necessary adjustments as needed during the merger market event.

This is another example of how we are always striving to provide the best platform and experience to our users and community!

Our Partners, OLA Finance, have increased the collateral factor and liquidation factor on Hector Institute. This increase allows our users to borrow more for the same collateral as before. It also provides a greater buffer zone for liquidation, offering more protection for those looking to use Hector Institute!

For example, let's say a user has $100 of stablecoin collateral. If the Collateral Factor is raised to 65% from 50% the user can now borrow $65 instead of $50. Similarly if the Liquidation Factor is raised to 75% from 65% the user can now reach $25 before they are liquidated.

For those who do not wish to borrow more, you will gain the passive bonus of being further from your liquidation limit!

Hello Hectorians! We’ve updated the TOR contracts for Minting and Redeeming. Minting becomes available when TOR makes up less than 45% of the Curve Pool; conversely, Redeeming is available when it makes up more than 65%. As a reminder, TOR is now 100% collateralized as an additional security feature, so the DAI used to Mint TOR is stored in the Hector Network Treasury. If Redeeming occurs, the DAI returned to the user is from the Treasury.

Hello Hectorians!  The Emission Plan has cleared Certik!

Due to the nature of the Emission Plan contracts, the audit process took longer than anticipated, but the wait is worth it, knowing that the plan is secure as we can make it for our users. The contacts are exceptionally complex, and this audit required extensive communication between Hector Network and Certik to ensure that all aspects were correctly understood, tested and adjusted where needed. Now that the contracts are returned to our Dev team, we can begin preparing our servers to make the switch. We anticipate being able to give a firm launch date very shortly! Naturally, ensuring that the rollout is smooth and does not cause massive disruptions to our servers or users is paramount, so this step is crucial for a clean launch!

Hectorians! We're converting our Spooky LPs from HEC/DAI to HEC/USDC. The process has been in the works for several days and should be completed within a few hours.

This shouldn't affect users in any significant way. However, we took these measures to hedge our bets and protect our community against some rumblings about a potential de-peg of DAI. We don't anticipate this to happen immediately, but we, as a team, are always vigilant about how best to serve the community and weather any storm.
