crypto = passion
Another dead coin. Sad.
Glad I did not put too much into this, already had a bad feeling when introducing autohodl.

there was already "free coins" (high % POS or giveaway) in the past, most of them end up same way, not surprise seeing how things goes here.

A restart isn't going to happen since so many coins out there being hodled or otherwise. Fixing the nutocracy fork wouldn't help much, in fact it may hurt more since we will have mined coins and hodled coins on the exchanges at the same time. Flooding the market... price 1 sat.

Better to just leave it alone as a failed experiment. Move on to other things or launch a new coin with this codebase.. minus the autohodl of course..

ok, given the choice between walking away (failed experiment) and removing the autohodl and taking a chance at the markets, why would you walk away?  what's the worst that could happen?

I like the idea of relaunching with hodl tokens given for original hodl coins.  so you give them out for a year while people switch over, so what?

Or just a takeover and get rid of the auto-hodl.  All good ideas.  What I'd really love to hear is a statement from Freetrade, either "so long and thanks for all the fish" or "stand by, something coming soon."  That's not a lot to ask is it?

Still HODLing! Last news was the Fuzzbawls was working a bit on the wallet miner and had the optimized miner working on some processors on windows, and not on others. I've no objection to a relaunch or change. Any change would be an improvement as things are so quiet. I don't have a lot of time to put into it. I'll help with fixing the bug with the term deposit that I mentioned earlier. It would be a good idea to get the optimized wallet miner running first so that pools don't dominate. You'll need to drag Yobit along too for any fork.

So basicly you are abandoning this coin? No further development cause you dont have time or switching to some other coin/work?

I'm happy to read that the coin is still alive and doing well. I hold a small amount of coins since 6 month, another 6 and they are confirmed Smiley

Just read about the planned fork. Any roadmap known for this? When it will be done?

Oh I see. Well the error clearly has to do with a bad connection to the pool.

Would removing the 1year-limit really cause a fork?

edit: Of course it would, since the current wallet wouldn't accept the transaction of newly mined coins done with the new wallet. Right?  Cheesy
Yes..
Term deposit did not kill the coin but f.e. cause low volume at c-cex.io ..
what gonna happens now ?? little bit confused .....  wait 4 weeks then will my coins be  released ( not much ) ...... Roll Eyes
If I have understood what has been posted correctly, when work time permits (a few weeks), Fuzzbawls and Freetrade will write the code to:

1. Fork the coin back to not requiring a one-year time lock on newly mined coins.  Those coins already time-locked will remain so according to their maturity block listed in the wallet.
2. Fix a minor bug with timelock concerning the length of time selectable for term deposits.
3. This will require a new wallet (ver 3.0?)

After that, I would expect additional pools to activate, perhaps Supernova and others.
Nicehash still lists HODL as an option so you may see some mining activity there.
Several people on this forum have said they will be adding their own hashing power to the mining activity.
YoBit, the only current exchange listing HODL, may or may not follow the fork, or may have to be paid to follow it.
One poster here said he would add HODL payment capability to his online grocery.
We will have to convince additional exchanges to list HODL.
We will need to find additional vendors willing to accept HODL as payment.

Does that help?

So decision was taken
But you do not know how to implement it?

Not sure who exactly this is aimed at regarding not knowing how to implement the proposal.

A proposal reached the accept threshold, which means that a code change implementing said proposal would be merged. Thus far nobody has submitted any code changes.

I myself know exactly how another fork could be coded, but as stated previously, have a lack of time currently. I have also stated that I will try to make the time later this month.

An hardk fork would kill the coin this coin just lack promotion, it was not bad, the deposit was a cool addition, but maybe it was better to do a pos system when you need to pay with your coin to increase your deposit stash, kinda like decred

Not seeing anyone jumping in on this.  Freetrade/Fuzzbawls, are you willing to do the work that needs to be done?

I'm currently overwhelmed with other work at the moment but will see if I can schedule some time to write the fork code in a couple weeks.

If you really want to unfork, simply run the old version on a server, announce the IP and start mining, right? I never updated and have the old chain up to September 2016.

no...just...no

@Fuzzbawls  Is the fork code something you are interested in doing on your own or are you interested in assistance with that?  It sounded like there was possibly some interest in dev activity from others.

@Freetrade I assume you will work with Fuzzbawls to put the term deposit bug fix in the fork release?  Any chance of a term deposit entry sorting option making it into there?  Or an export to .csv or something like that?  Even a 'sort by maturation block' would be fantastic.

In general, can we get some HODL addresses set up to donate to in support of the devs?  Then, if people can't Dev, they can donate!  Smiley
