right, if we are hard-forking again to remove the autoHODL on new blocks, can someone keep me posted as to when the coin changes so i can update the europe seed node which is currently on my server?

What's the next step and who has the ability to take it?  If we're hard forking away from the auto-hodl, and if that means requiring a new wallet/miner (3.0?), is this the time to get the optiminer improvements into the wallet? I think @Fuzzbawls might have been working on that, is that still the case?  @Freetrade also mentioned that getting those improvements into the wallet miner was perhaps the most important next step.

The central question would then be, do we charge ahead with removing auto-hodl and worry about the wallet improvements later or wait and do both at the same time?

All I have is questions, does anyone have any answers?

I think, at a minimum -

1. Fork code update (most coin devs could handle this)
2. Bug code fix (I've volunteered to do this)
3. New Wallet Binaries Compiled (Fuzz has handled this in the past)
4. Yobit update (may require payment)

nice to have

5. Wallet mining optimizations (what Fuzz showed me was probably 90% there)

Excellent thank you.

Ok, so it looks like we need a coin dev to work with Fuzzbawls and Freetrade on the pieces and parts, assuming Fuzzbawls is willing, are you Fuzz?  Is there someone who would like to step up to the role of coding the new fork, integrating Freetrade's fix, and perhaps integrating the wallet optimizations?

We are certainly appreciative of anyone who is, has, or will donate their time and expertise to the project.  However, dev's do like to see some consideration for the hard work they do and the time they put in and we don't want to proceed with the assumption that everything is going to be done for free.  What would be appropriate bounties to provide for everything in Freetrade's list?

Does anyone have (or can anyone point me in the direction) of a wallet blockchain download and/or bootstrap please? I have installed the latest Windows wallet on a laptop of mine & it has gotten almost NOWHERE over the last 6 hours (still 50 weeks behind). The laptop is only 2 years old & my internet connection is BLAZING fast. I have manually added nodes and am currently connected to 9 peers that I found from the only 2 HODL Block Explorers "network" section. When I open the wallets console & click on the "Information" tab, it says:

"Number of Connections: 9 (In: 0 / Out: 9)"

I searched the first 5 pages of Google search results in several different configurations all related to finding a HODL Blockchain download and/or Bootstrap file, and have struck out. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks!

there is no bootstrap. HODL uses the same HDF syncing method that Bitcoin uses, which means that pre-downloading a large bootstrap file is pretty much a waste and your bottleneck will be the verification process (just as it is when syncing the client over the network naturally)

I don't understand what you wrote and am unsure if you were referring to my post regarding a blockchain download and/or wallet bootstrap file. Can you please elaborate?

Concerns about the price at this point are understandable but not what we should focus on right now.  We need to focus on:

1. Removing the 1-year auto-hodl.  We can debate its effect later.  Right now it is the single most dramatic thing we can do to change the direction of this coin.
2. Interest in the coin--Articles, posts in forums, social media etc.  Let people know that this coin is coming out of hibernation.  Look at how the conversation on this forum alone has awoken by just mentioning making changes and having the devs drop in to comment.  People want this coin to succeed.
3. Hashrate--People are already saying they are ready to throw their hashing power behind this.  Get the other pools back up and running without auto-hodl.  Complete the work on the wallet to include the optimized miner so people can solo if they want to.  Put the hash rate through the roof.
4. Usability of the interface--As suggested, allow other or combined wallets to be used.  Fix the sorting issue for HODL'ed transactions.  I'm sure there are additional ideas.
5. Markets for the coin--Petition exchanges to get HODL listed, or listed again.  It needs the exposure.  If people want to pump and dump, who cares, the coin needs the volume which will help keep it listed and encourage other exchanges to bring it on.  What possible damage could they do to the price? We're sitting still right now, the price might as well be zero.
6. Vendors--We need to find people willing to take HODL for goods and services.  Anything at all.  Maybe someone trusted in this community can act as escrow or set something up for that if the vendor doesn't have that feature/ability. Not only will vendors give the coin exposure, it will increase demand (and ultimately price).
7. Innovation  If you have an idea to improve this coin, a feature you would love to see, speak up even if you don't know how to accomplish it.

The interest rate is all the way down at 150%, so anyone complaining about the effects of that should be pretty satisfied at this point.  We can remove the auto-hodl and have voted to do so.  Let's get this coin back out in the world and see what it can do.

well I have agreed to host a hodl seed node on my server, so yes Smiley I do like this coin Smiley thank you dev for the 25,000 HODL bounty, received with grace! What we could do with is a Ledger Wallet app for the ledger Nano S hardware wallet, that would be great as long term HODLers could add it to their ledger nano S HW wallet.

luckily i solo mined loads i locked up for a year that is maturing soon, i never invest in a new altcoin, i prefer to mine some and hold it and see where it goes! I am still mining and supporting the coin though, was a good idea and i felt like throwing some hash at it.

Crucial mistake was too high rates for early hodlers

i payed 25k-30k per hodl at the begin , and now on yobit it cost around 200 sat on sell

Well price rate is ridiculous, its oversold as I see it, but that doesnt mean it couldnt slip more. There aint many peeps holding this garbage, therefore I conclude the real price discovery hasnt yet started, but u can always employ shill accounts to enforce public opinion or manipulate prices like a mad man.

Locking up new blocks for a year was a big mistake, nothings wrong with giving the choice to lock the coins up for X # of blocks, but in a year the crypto space moves a lot. I observed that was a crucial mistake. I am still mining HODL and i have many coins about to mature in 2 months but i think we need to undo the hard fork, be it with dev input or not if we can acheve mining consensus or a community-fork not to lock up new blocks for a year. I am willing to put a bounty on a programmer to make this change and and see if miners wish to deploy the fix.

The coin was a great concept and idea being able to earn interest, i just think the opportunity to put your cash in savings should not be forced. I would add HODL support to my to be cryptogrocery shop if we fixed this problem.

I would have if i got my friends in it 30kH/s, but they all stopped mining hodl and I don't want to approach 51% hashrate as this is only bad for the coin nor would it be fair for me to take that vote on my own will, the community needs to decide, i can chip 20% hashrate on it, overall community consensus rather than a few seems to be not to lock up new blocks for a year, i may either work on a fork, or pay a bounty for a fork of either this blockchain so investors don't loose out of a whole new type of HODLCoin without this issue. I say fork this blockchain, but we need miner and community consensus.

Even reducing the forced lock up time  from 365 days to 30 days would be a great improvement.

Freetrade, what went wrong with HODLCoin?

Looking back, I think the turning point was the failure to get listed on BitTrex. They didn't like our branding and culture and felt that it would impact negatively on their chances to impress investors. They spelled this out and I think that had we changed the branding, they would have listed us. I felt Nutoshi was an asset and was more important that a Bittrex listing. I was probably wrong about that.

I know a lot of you think that it was AutoHODL that was the problem. I disagree. AutoHODLing stopped the price drop for a while and gave us more runway, but there wasn't enough momentum for liftoff. If i were going to recommend a change that would help, I'm sorry to say it, but it would be to get rid of Sackamoto. Let's face it, he's nuts.

I'd be pleased to see the forced Hodling removed myself as I was quite interested in the coin from very early on and basically cut my teeth on wallets, mining etc. with HODL. I did lose interest though with the forced holding as I see any activity important to keep a coin relevant. I've never sold one HODL even before the fork so I think it was unnecessary.
