What if the devs decided to discontinue HODLcoin development, what happens to the coins being "hodl'ed"?
Any assurance that HODLcoin would still exist after every year?

regarding your first question: then the network continues on as-is, as long as there are active peers and miners.

regarding your second question: its kind of a silly question really. since the network isn't controlled by any one entity exclusively. the network can "exist" with as little as one accessible node.

I feel like your questions are more about if you'll be able to sell mined coins year after year, in which case I'd have to refer you to the exchanges as they all have their own set of rules for continued listing (some known, some not), and I doubt any of them can guarantee that any of their supported coins will be available year after year.

Is there any news on the implementation of wolf's optiminer in the wallet?

The 24hr trading volume has been low in the past 3 days Sad

I haven't had much free time lately to work on updating the build system, but am trying to hash out a few updates tonight that will be another step towards getting these optimizations integrated.

Hi guys,

I've a question that might sound stupid but, since new mined blocks have to be hodl for 1 year, does that mean we can't deposit it to have interest during this time ? :/

its deposited for you automatically. when the block reaches it's deposit maturity, you will get the original 50 HODL, plus the accrued interest from the 1-year term deposit. length

thanks, that would be cool, but I don't have any bounties for translations at the moment.

I read there is a bounty for contrubuting to hosting the block explorer. I'm interested in it. What do you need exactly?

If folks were willing to publish their block explorer code on github, we could easily have more than two block explorers running. I asked for some help with the code necessary to port HOdl to uNOMP a few months ago in order to get more pools running, but that went unanswered.

Hmm, I have no idea how to make HODL work with uNOMP, Im not a developer, sorry  Undecided Why wouldn't people want to publish the block explorer code? Isn't it important to have more block explorers working?

latest market info I have -

latest stats i have are that 3.4 mil are non-hodled . . . of those about 1.1 mil are regular deposits and haven't been moved in more than 30 days, and 1.1 mil more are matured deposits. only 1.2 mil have been moved in the past 30 days.

seeing reduced  liquididy at c-cex . . . .100,000  coins on the market yesterday, only 50,000 today. think someone might be trying to corner the available supply.

24 hour volume was $238 according to coinmarketcap.. this is normal isn't it?

In the past few days it was quite high - around $500 per day

Hodl.optiminer.pl website is down and so is the pool.. I am trying to connect to the optiminer and I get this error:

Stratum connection failed: Failed to connect to hodl.optiminer.pl port 5555: Timed out

It was fine just an hour ago, anyone know what happened?

Edit: Its ok now, probably a small glitch!

It would be really good if wolf's optiminer is implemented into the wallet. If I can help somehow, let me know. I'm not a developer unfortunately Tongue

@niksdt101 now I got it! Thanks

How's the implementation of optiminer's miner in the wallet going? Is it still being worked on?

its going...slowly.

There are cross-platform concerns to take into account before his changes make it into the official repository. at least one of the issues relies on updating specific toolchain versions which I myself just haven't had the time to do recently (I volunteer my time btw). I've seen his PR successfully pass the win32/64 and the linux32/64 test targets...so if you are so inclined then self-compiling is certainly an option for those platforms.

I have messaged optiminer regarding the current cross-platform issues, as well as expressed my limited time table to dedicate towards build-system updates that specifically cater to his PR. I would absolutely LOVE to see his optimizations make it into the official repository (and release versions), but I want to be clear that such a thing is a "process" that takes time...time that is donated from both parties

I've been working with opti on the win32 version - currently when it is compiled and mining starts, it crashes. So far we haven't been able to isolate the problem.

Has anyone compiled the win64 version and mined with it yet?

I think the Arm/Mac/Win32 versions might be non-trivial and not in great demand, so I'm suggesting we use some #ifdefs to use the old miner when compiling for those platforms - that should straighten out the build issues. Then we can concentrate on getting the 64 bit linux/win versions working and built.

the opt-miner build is great @dev it has really increased the hasrate of by skylake processor . wonder what happens when kabbylake comes out this October..

What's kabbylake?

No other exchange yet aside from ccex?
YoBit. They finally fixed HODL deposits and withdrawals.

any chance of bittrex or polo (better) to list hodlcoin?
Small trading volume for big exchanges.

Thanks. didn't know Yobit already added.

How can it increase in volume if every coins mined now can't be use for a year? that's the part bothers most of the miners.

maybe premined coins or deposit interest coins

Until all premined coins run dry and the exchange finally kicks it out.

Basically we have to make it to at least Feb 1, 2017 which is the first date (roughly since it's based on block number not date) that 1 yr hodl'ed coins from the very start of mining will start being released and available (and have all that massive early interest rate added to them).  Given the number that are locked up that could mean a huge number coming on to the market at that point.  Of course, that's assuming there is a decent price at that point to keep people from simply re-hodling and waiting for a brighter day.  So 6 months to dev this coin before massive dumps will be possible at any time.

I think we will make it. HODL is the only coin using 1GB AES Pattern Search proof of work, which is in essence CPU only, as there is no GPU/ASIC minin so far. It also holds Botnets away, because you need to hold the coin for at least 1 year before you can spend it.

From what I see, FreeTrade has also developed previous coins including MemoryCoin; its a huge plus. As long as there is active development, I will keep investing in this

Ok, thanks for the update and thanks for your efforts.

Thanks for the update! Its nice to see work in progress. The coin needs it right now Smiley
