For a while I wasn't staking much compared to what I was staking at the start of the year but now its seems that it has gone back to normal like it was before. I'm not sure what was going on as the network weight didn't look like it increased all that much and I noticed that only a few wallets were staking. I'm just glad to be staking regularly again, hopefully soon we get some updates from the dev on a new wallet release.

Is this project alive?

I would say yes.  Let's just wait for more updates.

I;m still waiting for updates and for the resurgence of HONEY.  I don't hold a lot but price would be considerable when Honey return to at least half its cost before.

Dev, don't keep us waiting too long Smiley

I did read a month or so ago that there will be a new wallet update coming soon which should fix a few issues that some of us are experiencing with sync issues and PoS rewards as it seems that only a few stake all the time while others don't stake at all. I hold a large amount of Honey and have noticed that I don't stake much at all even though the estimate time to stake is always on 10 minutes. I'll be lucky to stake 2 times a day and its been like this for months now. So I'm really hoping that this new wallet release isn't too far away.

It's mining too slow. Double the reward, please. It's my advice.
How is Honey "mining too slow"?  That was quite vague... do you mean:

1) The hash rate is too low and it should higher (in other words, among the chains that people might decide to mine they should focus on Honey)?

1b) You're concerned about a 50% attack because the hash rate is too low.

or

2) The block times are too infrequent?

or

3) It takes too long for you to personally mine blocks because of the pesky stakers and the other people mining Honey?

I'm presuming you meant the first situation.  If so, this would seem to be to your benefit as you can mine or rent hash and get the lion's share of the honey that can be mined.

Moreover, and importantly (IMO), because the reward is usually 2 for the staker and 1 for the miner/pool there's an assymetric reward structure that benefits the staker over the miner.   An argument for this characteristic is that a staker is more likely to hold their coins (if they're being smart they'll only sell their stakes and leave the principal alone) whereas the miner is more likely to sell his or her's to recoup energy costs.

I'm actually looking forward to block 500,000 when this chain becomes PoS only.   One of the things I like about this chain is there's not a lot of coins (678,394 only as I write this).  The inflation from mined coins as it has been is just fine in my opinion.

Is this project dead ?

No its not dead, the dev just posted an update here a couple of days ago. His first priority is to get the new wallet complete and released as many people are having problems with sync issues and the wallet forking. Then we will find out what the dev has planned after that.

UPDATE I had an awful experience with no internet for a while there other than a bad connection to a wifi hotspot. I've gotten my personal situations dealt with and am currently back to developing on honey. I think we all want the chain to remain the same but desire a wallet that syncs from scratch. That is my priority over the next few weeks along with some improvements to the gui and updated dependencies. Please bare with me as I will be responsible for other tasks as well, however, the Honey wallet relese is priority #1 in developments.

Although we have had a bumpy road I am confident about the future!

This is great to hear dev, hopefully once the new wallet is released it puts an end to all the sync issues. I am looking forward to the future here even though it has been a rough few months. Once the wallet is complete, a new roadmap and website would be awesome to see as we still don't really know what this coin has to offer. Good luck dev and I hope that one day Honey will be a top cryptocurrency.

It doesn't seem that the community was as active as when this coin launched. I'm curious how much of the roadmap is achieved so far.
However the block explorer ( http://honey.cryptonode.online/network ) lists 60 connections interfacing with its Honey node over the last 24 hours; maybe people aren't as vocally active here as when it was a new shiny thing but the chain is still moving via mining and staking.   BTW, I had the same problem that Vella85 mentioned (typically only connecting to one node), but after getting rid of the addnodes in my config file and substituting these this thing's up to six connections now (much more optimal according to Paul Baran's classic paper "On Distributed Communications" from 1964  [ https://www.rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/research_memoranda/2006/RM3420.pdf ] -- specifically the discussion from pages 6 through 10 of it) .  The complete list of addnodes -- sorted from the block explorer -- is:

Also for the people that were complaining about that number 5 on the richlist getting all the stakes you can see from the links embedded in the explorer's richlist ( http://honey.cryptonode.online/richlist ) that the wallets at ranks 2,  4, and 7 have also been getting stakes in recent days... somewhat as can be anticipated (they've got the most at stake/wedded-within this network instead of an alternative thing).  I'm also annoyed about the recent network problems (my 2400 or so Honey spread across a few addresses used to generate a stake or several a day... but the last two were June 9th and June 6th).  I'm still willing to gamble on the premise and situation (I like the limited coin supply) with this network though.

@cryptostiltskin I sent you a pm.

The dev showed up in the discord the other day and said that he will be looking into the wallet issues next week as it seems that the wallet has forked and is causing some big problems with the network. Its a shame that this has happened to a great staking coin and I really hope the dev can fix this mess and Honey gets back to where it once was.
