when I see everyone in the top 100 with rates between 2 mhz & 80 mhz on 1gh, I'm kinda worried, it almost looks like there's a secret GPU miner  Grin

GPU miner is impossible with the HVC core, check this page http://heavycoin.github.io/about.html#cpu-only for details

Some people have a lot of merged CPU hash power. it looks insane, yes. but they do.. the top 100 are people with a lot of CPU power.

I assure you that GPU miner is definitely possible with HVC. The sooner it's created and made public the better for this coin. Really, reworking HEFTY1 to remove conditional branches is a child's play. This coin being cpu-only is a pure marketing bs, don't believe it.

If creators of this coin are so sure that it can't be efficiently mined with GPU I'd be happy to prove them wrong for a nice generous bounty. Cool

prove them wrong then, create a gpu miner for this coin. seriously I will believe it when I see it but so many people say that the code is easy to get around for gpu mining but nobody has the answer to back up their statements, until someone backs it up then it's a load of hot air. I have found the secret of alchemy, the dark art of turning base metals into gold, see anyone can say something, doesn't make it true though without proof.

Just a thought about voting ...

First of all, I did not make my mind so far about what to vote. But it does not matter, since I do not find blocks.  Tongue
I leave this to the ones that actually find blocks.

One of the issues with high voting could be the following:

When 1gh pool started, they had in the minerd command line -v 1024. Many jumped in at that time. So, I suppose that many continue voting for 1024 without looking back. In the mean time, 1gh altered it and now proposes -v 512, but I think that most of the people still run on their initial minerd configuration.

the way i see voting is the availability of coins being the major factor. I mean there is no difference in having 2x$5 notes or one $10 note. but the quicker coins go into circulation then the cheaper they are because availability might outstrip demand. This on the other hand is countered the fact that psychologically people are happier being able to mine more and this in turn spikes interest getting more people mining and increasing the difficulty faster. So it's an interesting one and the main factors I see which will drive price on with this coin is a) the cpu only factor and b) the voting system, this uniqueness only means good things so regardless of the mint rate I would chill and smoke a cigar because this coin is going places.

EDIT: Example ...

Blocks 3586 till 3590. All found by 1gh, all voted for 1024.

AAAArrrgh!!!!!!

What can be done for a lost wallet password? I installed almost 20 wallets when the coin first launched... found 6 blocks total- then stopped them and put the systems on pool mining on 1GH.

I transferred all of my coins to my main wallet today; now I tried to move them to mintpal and realized I PW protected the main wallet.

However I made a totally random password written on a piece of paper and threw it away!

I have no way of getting it back... trash is gone. Is there any way to recover the coins/get them out of the wallet?  It's over 18,000 coins.

Thoughts?

from what i understand their gone unless you know the password.. good hunting

i mean they are very unique but a lot of them are around already, but as the difficulty climbs if they keep their unique cpu only aspect then the price will go up and up.

Is there some possibility to make a optimized miner for AES-NI processor like was done for quark miner and darkcoin miner?

Thanks

primera, what are you using to get 7 mh/s?

If I counted right, 700 cores. Or 350 cores with hyperthreading.
Somebody had some nice screenshots yesterday here comparing newer and older processors.

I have 60 intel I5...

Client is indeed reporting a 22-28% increase over previous 1gh miner on my machines. Now to see if the shares agree...
New miner extremely inconsistent. Have been testing for over 3 hours now on three machines with the exact same specs : 2 x Opteron 6274 with 64GB RAM each. In that time, one machine has mined ~1800 shares, another has mined ~900 shares, and the other has mined ~600 shares. This is beyond the margin of error and therefore is less likely to denote luck and more likely to denote an error in the code.

edit - hash rate as reported on miner with least shares: 540.49; hash rate as reported on miner with most shares: 521.78.
