jakiman is back!
I want to call BS on anyone who claims to get 24Mhs or more form their R9 290. I worked on config setups for some time and I am convinced that people are just misreporting, or people are posting performance results based on multiple card setups

With that being said. The best I can get out of 1(single) Sapphire Tri-X 290's is 15.5Mhs @100W

If you claim to get much higher than 15.5Mhs, I want to see the screen shot! (Please dont try to prove it with a "start up spike", I want to see 24Mhs on a miner that has been running for hours) Otherwise, I call bull shit!

Come on. Just because you can't doesn't mean everyone is a liar.

My 280x can get easily over 21Mh/s each. Heck, my 7850 gets 11.9Mh/s right now.
My friend is running his pair of 290 at 28.7Mh/s each. He gets his 290x at 31.6Mh/s.
It runs at those hashes for days also BTW. Not just some start-up spike.

1. If you mine at 1GH, use VIP as your password.
2. If you mine at zhpool, use port 40001.
3. Make sure you use the latest cgminer from hvc.1gh.com.
4. Try using both -w 64 or -w 256 to see which is better for you.

This is from my 4 card 280x rig which I took a while back:

Here you go.

The first SS is of Trix-OC & the second is of Regular 290 (Non-Tri-x OC)
You can read 0 days 04... on the upper right corner which indicates they have been running for atleast 4 hours. But believe me,
I have tested them constantly running for more than 2 days at the same rate without crashing.
Since they are taken from teamviewer through headless miners, they are not in full screen.

I get identical result on both Trix-OC & Reference cards of 290 which must not be the case,
As Trix-OC should get atleast 10-20% more but I couldn't make it run better somehow so far.
Can anybody help please ?

I hope people are doing better than 15.5 with their 290's, as that's what I get from my 7970's.

You need ./autogen.sh --enable_opencl --enable_heavy (and it is in README Smiley )
Cool thx I'll try, yeah RTFM huh Roll Eyes I checked the readme for dependencies but omitted this line I guess.

I´ve got a picture! Haha!

Glad to be that "someone pointed" Smiley Butterfly effect maybe? I know it's probably not my doing, but big things started to happen after that. Proudly holding like a boss now  Cool

i'm in this for the long haul but I have a sneaking suspicion that things will get worse before they get better i'm afraid, not for the faint of heart.

Things always get worse before they get better. No exceptions in crypto world either. But there are several strong reasons to believe HVC will raise in the long run.

- Good developers, solid code.
- Different algo approach.
- Power friendly and efficient for miners.
- No ASICs (if anyone designed an ASIC for this algorithm, chances are the price would already be very high)
- Commitment for promotion. This coin is still very young.
- Money supply regulation through voting. Personally I don't think this will have a very big impact due to decrease of supply (it's always going to be very difficult to see the median vote move far away from the 500+ range) but the feature itself is transparent and nice, so it's always going to be a plus.

If people leave aside unrealistic expectations of being rich by summer and think in longer term, the chances of having a good stash of a pretty valuable coin later on this year will increase.

Edit: But unlike most people here, I'm not a big fan of having entered cryptsy.

Guys,

still struggling with heavycoin cgminer under bamt, mining does not start.

I took cgminer.conf from zhpool help section, there is "kernel" : "heavy, heavy, heavy", in the config, but it looks like my heavy cgminer (code from https://github.com/reorder/cgminer_skein) does not like it: "Invalid config option --kernel: Invalid parameter to set_kernel".

I debugged a bit the set_kernel function in https://github.com/reorder/cgminer_skein/blob/skein/driver-opencl.c it seems that USE_HEAVY is not defined in the project. Anything I should do at compile time?
(currently simply using ./autogen.sh --enable_opencl then make)

thanks

How many cards do you have?

"heavy, heavy, heavy" would be for 3 cards

"heavy,heavy" for 2, etc

Yup, forgot to tell, 3 GPU rigs (R9 280X). I believe the .conf is ok, however from what I can see, the cgminer binary is not setting the heavy "mode".
I have to look more in the source, I was hopping someone could know why USE_HEAVY doesn't seem to be defined at compilation.

You need ./autogen.sh --enable_opencl --enable_heavy (and it is in README Smiley )

One of the big problems with it now being on Cryptsy is the autosell option there.  Mining and dumping gets to be a lot less hassle.
Buy cheap there and sell or hold for mintpal.

the thing is I think it will take litecoin becoming unmineable except with asic before people actually do get it. already the sell orders outstrip the buy orders quite significantly.
