I think that with the help of smart contacts it is possible to implement many functions of interesting investors and that are not specified in the WP.
I understand that smart contracts are just beginning their way into the global economy, but there are very few ideas for application so far. Can you give an example?
Judging by the lack of your answer so far I conclude that you can not give an example of the application of smart-contracts.
Apparently it's just chatter..
Hi Rockertron - We don't believe in chatter. We believe in results.
We responded with the below yesterday. Please view: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2381017.msg24772974#msg24772974
Smart contracts are extremely valuble for the financial industry in our business. For example, they can help us:
- Streamline and improve financing efficiencies for buyers, suppliers and institutions
- Streamline post-trade processes, removing duplicative processes executed by each counterparty for verifying trades and conducting appropriate trade events
- Provide accurate, transparent financial data recording to improvide data integrity
As a result provide reduced costs, faster / greater liquidity of financial assets and increased market stability.
Other industries are leveraging smart contracts to eliminate third-parties, reduce costs and increase efficiency as well. Unfortunately there are few good examples in the blockchain space today as it is still early... We hope to break that mold.
Thanks!
Thank You too!
I know about what smart-contracts are and what they are capable of.
But no offense, you guys from Microsoft are too smart for me and people like me who read the WP Coinvest for making a decision about investing.
And after reading this post, I can also say that you are again talking about High matters. With your permission, I can propose an applied task for smart-contracts of Financial System Coinvest.
Are You not against?
Hi Rocketron -
We are always open to any ideas that the community suggests including yours.
That's one of the reasons why we are electing to ensure our code is open-source. So that we can continue to get feedback from our community to improve and make this the platform that the users want.
As our whitepaper states:
Coinvest is a company and community built for the people… by the people. As for Coinvest, our specific smart contact functionality enables us to do a few things:
- Record investment data to the blockchain
- Hold and distribute user funds based upon certain conditions
Thus eliminating the need for a third-party broker (human) to document or ever touch funds since it is all autonomous and handled by computer code. There are other examples that are using smart contracts to do eliminate the need for third parties brokers as well. For example, betting platform (Dao Casino), prediction markets (Augur), etc.
Great!
I'm just trying to fantasize a bit on this subject, than Coinvest may be useful to me.
So, let's say I'm a portfolio investor. I determined, for example, ten coins, which are interesting to me and determined the specific weight of each of them in my investment portfolio. Conditionally I decided that each of the coins I should have 10% of the volume calculated in dollars. But we know how crazy volatility is in the market. Therefore, the specific weight of coins relative to the dollar will change daily. Each of the selected coins may become cheaper or vice versa may rise in price to the USD.
And how can I be if I'm not ready to track these currency races everyday? (If I'm ready it is, then I'm not a portfolio investor, but rather a trader at an exchange
.)
Here smart contracts come to the rescue.
By means of smart contracts on your platform, you can specify an algorithm in which the specific weight to the dollar will be constantly reduced to the set parameters of 10 coins of 10% with respect to USD. So, such an algorithm will allow you to fix a profit in a currency that showed growth and reallocate the asset into currencies that look oversold.
