We will be working through the weekend to get the site back up as soon as possible. Yes, this upgrade is for our trading engine which will reduce the amount of 5xx errors. It is taking so long because we want to make sure the upgrade is rolled out safely.
As for that update, we fully understand the serious nature of this upgrade. Our dev team was working for 20+ hours straight at the time of that post, and may have been a result of sleep depravation.

WHY THE HELL DO YOU NOT SIMPLY ROLL BACK??? ( I am NOT sorry for caps)

Good luck to the Kraken IT team! Bugs like these bugs can be a complete nightmare, anyone involved in both Infra and Development knows this. All the pressure of solving performance issues quickly probably caused this.

At least they are updating us and we can subscribe to email and sms updates also.

My only question is why they do not roleback to the working state and solve the problem the coming weeks??

Maybe because the last working state was 2 years ago and their backups don't reach that far in the past?

Before starting any new upgrade/update/release, it is the common practise to take a whole image backup of the current working state. So that, if any thing goes wrong it can be easily rolled back within hours if not minutes.

I am 100% sure there is some thing fishyyyy going on which KRAKEN is not telling us and that is what making all of us upset.  Bottom line is, KRAKEN is not telling us the 100% tryth about what is actually happening.

Update - We are still working to track down an elusive bug which is holding up launch. This bug did not appear in our many weeks of testing and only emerged in the production environment. Unfortunately, it is not consistently reproducible and we cannot launch until this issue is resolved. To reiterate our earlier statement: stale (and possibly all) orders will be canceled, and liquidations will be paused before trading is resumed. We will be offering a substantial amount of free trading following resolution.

I don't know if they added it after you quoted it but the final line also says "All funds remain secure. "

That's what? Roughly $1,366,400,000 worth of BTC.

Good question, can we require a FIAT withdraw?

I asked the support to make fiat withdrawal via SEPA, they said I have to issue withdrawal myself through the platform. When I asked them to issue a withdrawal for myself, they replied that Kraken support has no access to my funds. Basically I have to wait for the maintenance to be over and then issue a withdrawal myself.

But let 28 mils benefit ...

Yeah, 2 months of continued operation would be twice like that. And what about a year of flawless operation with a new and attractive trading engine?

There's much more money for them to be made.

Of course I can only hope that I'm right. For all of us.

28 mils are only 0.1% ....

Some here are afraid about hack or steal ... and here it's not 0.1% but 100% .....

OK, I got your idea, but still, don't you think in the longterm they still win?

And other thing. Jesse Powell. He is so well known - everybody knows he is the Kraken - do you think he would risk his life quitting, after so much year dedicated to such successfull business?

Why escape to an unhabitated island with loads of money incognito instead of leading a healthy rich-man's life?

 I doubt it.

At least I hope, the orders have been stalled too. If one of my orders would have been succeeded, I would have lost quite a bunch of money.

Ok, still better that losing all, if they were really going to the tropical island.

So you want us to believe our funds are safe without having any access to them?

What they possibly could do? All systems are offline, what do you want? A personal receipt?

My opinion, that there's no point for Kraken to quit, especially now. They earn nearly million (or more) $ per day solely from the trade fees. It is a solid business they make there.

What they are doing - I think - is upgrading their buggy trading engine for ALL OF US - while in the same time  sacrifising their own profit - being offline for two days costs no less than 2 mils...

I also have money there - but somehow I believe in their spirit...

And also the time is right - the fluctuations in market these two days are minimal. Couldn't be a better time frame to perform this upgrade.

Allow us access to withdraw, if all they are upgrading is the trading engine why not allow withdrawing?
