This totally unacceptable. How can they be so unprofessional with so much money at stake is beyond me. I was there during MtGox debacle and I can tell you I don't like this at all.
Worst part is I intended to withdraw everything before their "update" but couldn't due to their buggy system.

Considering how shit the user experience was with Kraken the past months no wonder it's taking so long.

But i am indeed wondering why it's takeing so long. I am working as an it specialist and if we are doing bigger updates/upgrades on our costumers we ALWAYS use a backup system. If the system is very sensible we clone the complete machine and run the updates on the clone first. Might sound like wasted time as you have to do the complete update twice BUT: We always spot all the problems on the cloned machine, can get proactive before influencing the life system.
For me it might sound as if someone has made a mistake and the result of this is 24h no kraken.
I understand, and please people understand too, that the devs do also need some rest and sleep. The point is: I don't get it why there are no different shifts on the IT guys. If we would fuck up a system of a costumer like that, we would be working in different shifts, allowing most efficient time management.
Still i understand that devs also have to sleep Wink

Good morning bitcoin land,

I wait like everybody else here so that Kraken will re-open and be better from what was.
It's very clear that a system that was designed to serve some thousands or some hundred thousands was not possible to serve millions..
I hope everything goes well with your update!

I really hope they do something good for themselves and make something like a 1k$ free that can be spent only on trading fees to lure people and as an apology for those who are in. this exchange could be really nice w/o the errors, more liquidity and a bunch of coins added.

I honestly thought the upgrade had already happened since in the last few weeks the platform was running much smoother than before. I can hardly wait to see how smoothly it wil run after the upgrade.

The frequent updates are also appreciated, i don't understand why people complain about them. They're also getting more entertaining.  I've been using Kraken since 2013 and they are indeed the most trustworthy exchange there is. Only people who started using Kraken recently seem to be worried. They don't really know the exchange or their good reputation. I'm not worried at all.

From 2 hours to a whole day.. when is this upgrade going to be finished? I missed a lot of trading opportunities today and I don't appreciate that at all. But who cares...........

We lost a lot of trading opportunities for month with lag and other bug .... So all prefer 1 day without trading at all for have a fonctionnal site ....

It's your point of view. If you were trading with big money you would understand that this lack of information is unacceptable.



Well I share that same point of view with Shamane and I would consider my trading to be with big money, although that's all relative.  

As for those who are seeing visions of mtgox or cryptsy, there isn't any real parallel.  Withdrawals have been working.  I have seen some people complaining about cash withdrawal issues now and then but every crypto withdrawal I have ever done has happened in a very timely manner.  One of the only reasons I have tolerated the pathetic state of the Kraken website up to this point actually.  That and the volume, although that has been drying up so hopefully this update will bring some of that back.

In addition to withdrawals functioning well, there are Kraken reps making regular updates here and on the status page.  If they went radio silence for a few days, then I would start to worry.  This downtime might be annoyingly long for some, but honestly, it is most annoying in how long it has taken to get to this point of actually implementing an update.  This had better work to address the problems we have been dealing with though.

Guess I was just in time to withdraw my fiat from the exchange two days ago. Im happy that I did so just in time before this stuff started. Well, how long is this downtime supposed to last? I was going to trade on kraken again tommorow. Will that be possible or not?

It was about time to make this upgrade to your hardware along with an update to your software.
Truly hope that indeed will worth the wait. Cancel though everything including orders,maybe it's to drastical.

Is there any other plan or this is final?

I also think the same. With some more given informations we all could RELAX much more. Instead i bet some more experienced people might already start to panic as they have seen mtgox, cryptsy, mintpal and all the others exchanges disapear. To be honest, if the "small exchange" didn't just disapear, saying "we got hacked", it always started the same...

Is it only me or did the support website also got shut down?

Hi there again, just wanted to let you know that everything worked out fine now. I could withdraw to my bank account. Only thing that still wasnt correct was the possible amount to withdraw. As Im verified at tier 3, the daily withdrawal limit should be $25,000 but instead it would only let me withdraw 331€. Is there a reason for that? I will try again tomorrow and see how much it will be then. Could you by chance also tell me how long it usually takes to process a withdrawal? Thanks in advance!

Hi Bribed. I'm glad to hear that things are moving in the right direction! Usually we see this happen if you've either A) Already withdrawn your daily limit of funds or B) You have an open order tying up the asset that you're trying to withdraw. Please check this and if it's not your issue please open a new ticket and escalate it. Thank you for your patience.

So you say it's my point of view prefer 1 day without trading instade of multi lag/bug for month, but message just before you ask for a new update when the one is on instal ...
