They will never be confirmed now, because it's over due. But you will get new mined coins in future. So you lose nothing.
Do I have to let my wallet open? In 1st post says "no". I have normal transactions when wallet is open. It's unconfirmed when wallet is close. You don't need to have your wallet online to accrue coin age/ coin weight. But when it comes to the time of actually "redeeming" the coin age by minting it, then you need to have your wallet online, unlocked, and synchronized. Then you will get accepted on the blockchain, and orphan blocks will mostly go away.

You should be able to leave your wallet open for 2 or 3 days at a time every 20 days and get caught up on your minted coins.

Apparently there is still some use for those orphan blocks..

Lol i have never seen so many orphan blocks with my mint wallet. Mostly only 1 or 2.
