The masternodes enable things like instant send and mixing and the other services the coin does and they receive a reward for there work.
It is around 600-700 coins a day right now I think but the more master nodes that are running the lower the reward would be per day.

for now is quite profitable, but the reward not only depends on the number of masternodes, but also on the capacity of connections that can handle the masternode and the number of operations. osea that when the nodes increase, those that have been mounted on vps will have less possibilities
