Current Difficulty 2130
That will take some time to find the next block, or some multipool needs to hit it.
Yeah, I don't understand how it can ramp up that high. Must be something wrong with the implementation of Digishield? Hope we'll be able to clear the block soon to get this moving. It's hopefully only a couple of days before PoS now, so it's very frustrating to have mining problems this close to the finish line.
Well here's my story. I've been thinking about for a couple of weeks and also did some testing a few weeks ago.
Lets start with multipools.
I think it's quite easy. Multipools are smart miners and they try to mine blocks with minimum time. That's only possible when the hashrate is > than last found block hashrate/ current difficulty. When the difficulty is low, the multipool release an amount of hashrate on the coins, that results that the block was very fast resolved, but also increased the diff. The next block would be harder to solve and would take more time, thus the coin is not efficient to mine anymore. Also most multipools daily sell the mined coins and pay the miners in BTC.
Ok, now about NAUT hashrate. I've been quite early with NAUT and at launch and couple of week after NAUT had some decent hashrate, so whenever a multipool stops by, with a decent hashrate a block could be solve with an acceptable time frame.
At the period NAUT price was being dumped, also profitability of mining dropped and miners stopped mining and each time a multipool stopped by and made the difficulty much harder for the remaining miners to solve the next block. This was the situation a few weeks ago. Here's the point BK needed to hire some asics to keep some block movement.
So every time BK or some other pool with low hash power finds a block, the diff drops and multipools coming in to mine a few blocks and off they go again and this pattern has been repeated.
Here comes my testing. I was really fed up with the stuck blocks and wanted to mine some NAUT, so I thought, what if I rent allot of miners and get the block running and get some NAUT. That would be a win win
. I rented once 1.2GH/s and the other time 1.8GH/s scrypt miners. It was a fail and after I solved a block after like 1-2hrs, immediately multipools came in. Yes I lost a few bucks in this testing
The last two week NAUT price started to increase and momentary peaked at the fight. Probably it was so profitable a couple of multipools have been throwing more hash to mine blocks which led to this diff.
BK increased his mining hashrate, but still with this diff it might take a while. I know BK is mining at loss here trying to get the block moving.
