We are VERY active on Discord, so much so that we forget to come here and update.

Our explorer has been overhauled and we are no longer using the chainz explorer.
We find that it is easiest to manage our own explorer versus using a 3rd party.

We had allot of stuff we were working on previously, but now we are moving forward with a great many things.

You can download the bootstrap http://207.148.13.214/Neutron_blockchain_latest.zip and the 4.1 is very stable. It takes a lot time to sync from scratch from time to time it will sync and stop for a little bit and start again. The team is working on it get the explorer back online.

Release Notes

• Even more aggressive block download from peers implemented by randomly flushing the known inventory of a random peer and re-asking about blocks
• The initial masternode list sync now fills out the whole winner list from the start by referencing the transactions in
  the block chain database
• Identified and resolved problems with the semaphore lock-order between threads. This could cause hangups and stalls and the problem was present in several locations of the daemon. Please refer to the change log (v4.0.2.666...v4.1.0) for further details
• Masternode scores are now calculated earlier in ConnectBlock(...)
• The request rate of masternode list updates has been cut in half
• Update to LevelDB 1.22
• Increase of the LevelDB memory cache, including several tweaks to the settings of the backend
• Initial block downloads now time out if they take more than 5 minutes without the sync moving
• Correctly show the satanic edition in getpeerinfo
• Remove proof-of-work field from RPC getinfo command - this was slowing it down
• During reorganize events, SetBestChain(...) now correctly repoints pindexNew to the last good block. This was one of the causes for the money supply being lost and seems to be a long standing bug in many cryptocurrency chains
• Update to the debug system for lock contention detection. If enabled and a lock takes more than half a second to acquire a warning is printed to the debug.log file

Neutron v4.0.1 Release Notes:

• More aggressive block download from peers implemented
• The block syncing thread no longer allows itself to be choked by the rest of the application (it will forcefully take control and lock the main semaphore). The previous behavior with TRY_LOCK(...)
  was causing busy-looping and increased CPU utilization
• Check for duplicate blocks more aggressively in more of the functions in main.cpp which should allow us to catch them earlier depending on the execution path
• The money supply is now calculated earlier in ConnectBlock(...). Debug message and back-trace was added to track future money supply issues occurring
• The PushGetBlocks(...) function no longer floods GETSPORKS messages
• Un-merged the midas branch changes from master - Keeping this change in the official daemon might not be safe

On Monday April 6th the Neutron Network encountered an anomaly in Difficulty Calculation, as the result of an outside attempt to inject a large number of Orphan Blocks and otherwise erroneous information. The anomaly caused the entire network to become "stuck". The Neutron Development Team has taken measures to both get the network moving again, and take the needed steps to ensure that this type of anomaly cannot happen again.

We have released a new wallet version 3.0.14 https://github.com/neutroncoin/neutron/releases/tag/v3.0.14

We ask that you please update the wallet on your server asap.

**(If possible please use our pre-compiled version to ensure there are no issues with dependencies as when someone compiles on their own)**

**(Please ensure that the Neutron wallet is on a server that is not overcrowded and has enough resources available for smooth operation)**

Once updated please use our Official Bootstrap to ensure a fast sync and correction to any possible issue related to the anomaly.

• Reworked Shutdown() and PrepareShutdown() functions that should handle process termination better.

@everyone Just to be clear, there is no set date that you must update by, we have already tested the enforcement this evening and all went well, even the 3.06 and 3.07 wallets followed the agenda, however we detected some stalling on certain nodes when making decisions, and it was decided that we need to adjust the scoring process, it should be noted that even nodes that were stalling did finally make the proper decisions, it just took them to long to do so. So we will release a wallet version 3.09 to address this, we have temporarily turned off the enforcement while the next release is made. Upon the next release we will turn back on enforcement and leave it on for good. Once that is done people with old clients will notice the stalling, and they will be advised to update, after that they wont have anymore problems. Clients older than 3.06 will start to have issues and they of course will be advised to update. Anything older than 3.04 will either fork away from the majority chain or they will cease to work at all. These folks will (you guessed it) be advised to update their wallet, bootstrapping will NOT be needed. In the event of an old client fork do not bootstrap, simply update the wallet and it will find its way home! We have come a long way in Neutron from when I first took it over in december of 2015, since then we have had 21 releases and a whole lot of ups and downs, we could probably write a book about it lol,. Today Im very happy to have finally been able to accomplish what I set out to do. Thank you all, we will be working to make Neutron a mainstay in the ever evolving cryptospace and we hope that you all will continue to support us. Peace
