GUI wallets have been patched to use v0.1.3.0!

Windows: https://github.com/masari-project/masari-wallet-gui/releases/download/v0.1.3.0/masari-gui-win-x64-v0.1.3.0.zip
sha256sum: 350aa0dc2ddba332c81222f9552458dc8092117361975ffad4cbcc1ddf5dc2f9

Working fine.
Is there any way to find out version of the wallet once it is running?

Thanks for moving  this coin, dev. I have already poked  few communities to pay attention to it now or in near future!

I will be recompiling these when I have time, they're currently using the latest masarid daemon with the GUI wallet assets (may have cosmetic embedded version differences)

The same situation was with sumokoin after 1-2 month since start. They had to urgently implement some mitigation to diff calculation code.

Masari's original DAA was much worse and after appr. six weeks it HF'd to implement the Sumokoin DAA. That's the one in use now since another six weeks or so. But it is still far from perfect as we see and it will likely be fixed in the next HF.

A couple of hours ago the nicehash idiot attacked again. Difficulty now over 200M and no block since two hours.

With the nicehash botnet for hire, new coins today need very quick and accurate DAAs. This wasn't the case three years ago.

People with large farms are not a problem. They are financially invested and act rationally.

But nicehash is another story. They provide every idiot who is not invested at all with a huge gun so he can go on a rampage and wreak havoc.

I also saw this behaviour on a lot of new coins. Just a few blocks old, some nicehash dudes with some rented gigahashes ruined the coins, because the blockchain of these coins were stuck for days.

Hi everyone,

We have a hard fork protocol upgrade coming Saturday, 2 December 2017 09:30 UTC

This upgrade Implements one of the best known difficulty algorithms known so far and we may be the first to implement this! a weighted harmonic mean (WWHM, designed by zawy - https://github.com/kyuupichan/difficulty/issues/28)

the solution can be  quite  easy (in theory), just set  high limit on hashpower from single  miner (or  single wallet  recieve  rewards),  let it be  20% of  total poll hash rate

That would be pool-side and can't solve the problem. It could only contain it. I suggested that pools do not provide dedicated ports for the nicehash botnet. Masari.superpools provides even two dedicated nicehash ports.
But even if it didn't, someone could always create a private pool for nicehash and it happened already. The solution must be network-wide on the protocol level.

My guess we will see the network and  price rising soon, just give dev time to do what he planed. if we can make it  to 1300 sat like it was after adding to stocks.exchange will be great!

This problem has gotten worse over time, and it seems like the adversary is trying to explicitly disincentivize miners with targeted attacks that take the algorithm into consideration.

This was my guess as well. Because the jumps were too big today, like someone trying to create a positive feedback loop. I watched only superpool blocks but I have seen the difficulty as low as sub 10M and over 200M within as little as two hours.

Oh my, diff on main pool is jumping like mad all day long

Well, difficulty is supposed to "jump like mad" if the hashrate "jumps like mad" too. That's the goal, to mimic the hashrate, right?
It's only a problem when both jump out of sync  Grin

What's wrong with the DAA? Five full hours for the last 60 blocks (nominal should be two hours) and yet the difficulty gets increased.

the current DAA over 30 blocks (1 hour, not 2 - block maturity is 60 blocks) takes into account the median timespan (derived from Sumokoin) and not just the mean - many of the mined blocks are not in the screenshot you provided (mined from other pools) as we have a mining adversary with a private pool (hash rate is not observed in any of the public pools). This problem has gotten worse over time, and it seems like the adversary is trying to explicitly disincentivize miners with targeted attacks that take the algorithm into consideration.

The attacks have gotten worse since I mentioned (on Discord) that there is a new difficulty algorithm implemented that will replace this in our next protocol upgrade (though this could just be correlation and not necessarily the cause).
My initial plans were to include it with new features, which would place it near Q1, but it may be deemed necessary to push out the new DAA sooner.
